NIWeek Discount Registration

I have a registration for NI Week that was purchased at the early discount price of $895. Unfortunately, I am unable to attend, and I would very much like to transfer my registration because the refund deadline has passed. However, this could be a bargain for anyone that is interested in attending and has not yet registered -- you save $100.

If you have never attended, it is a great way to learn about the latest products and application techniques and to network with other engineers like you.

Pictures?

Hi All;

I have been reading this info-labview thingy for quite a while, there are lots of names that you keep seeing everyday but have no idea who are these people
(some of them real genius).
Now, does anybody know what happened to tons of pictures that were taken last year?
How about having a "blogger's photo" or let's say "info-labview people's" photo?
Just a thought!:)

Informal LabVIEWers on the Mac gathering

Dear LVers affiliated with the Apple Macintosh platform,

We would like to stage some unofficial gathering of the LabVIEW wireworker community working on LabVIEW's heritage platform to discuss some projects and future activities. Please, those of you who will be in Austin during NI-Week 2003 and interested to join, please mail me a note and I will get back to you with further information.

Must See Sessions

Well, the session schedule is out. Whenever it comes down to viewing sessions, I always have a hard time picking. I'll only attend a particular session if it's something I'm really interested in. Sometimes I'll just walk in to ask a question that I already know cannot be answered. I always get a kick out of that. This year my time is limited and I'll probably be spending more time schmoozing than watching a powerpoint presentation.

There are, however, several sessions that I will be attending:

Getting Ready...

I am getting ready for NI-Week, I just had a quick look at the web page and noticed that NI suggests a hotel (Hampton Inn). Does anybody know about this hotel?

Also, I was wondering is there any public transportation from airport to the hotel? Because, I don't think I will need to hire a car in Austin!
Maybe NI has some sort of transportation from the airport to the hotels!
Any comments?

Cheers
Hamid

I am going to NIWeek

Hi all. This will be my first time at NI Week, and also my first time exhibiting something. I'll be in the "BiometricsVIEW" booth near the CyberCafe and the Sensors Pavillion.

Although I will be promoting the BiometricsVIEW toolkits, my main passion is security. I expect this trip to be very educational for me because I will have the opportunity to learn about the different security requirements LabVIEW developers may have.

Anyway, feel free to stop by, even if it is just to say "hi". Also, I am looking forward to meet and shake hands with the people I only "see" in virtual forums like this, and in especial in NI's Developers Exchange. I have learn a lot from the LabVIEW community. The opportunity to meet most of these people in person is really unique, and is something I don't want to miss!

Bring your significant other...

I don't know if many of you know about this but I thought I would bring it up. In parallel to NIWeek, NI has organized guest activities for the spouses or friends of the NIWeek attendees. My wife has attended these activities for the past two years now and has always had a wonderful time. Everyday after the conference we meet up and continue together. If anyone has thought about bringing someone with them on the trip then this is definitly the way to go. You can post any question here and also click over to the guest tours link.

The CD-ROM

Hi;
This is my first posting (and actually my first experience of blogging)
Last year, there was no CD-ROM of the talks and the Vi's of the NI-Week 2002.
NI promised that we will receive at some later time. I for one, never got that CD. I think we should ask NI to either provide the CD in Austin or put the Vi's at their web page. Also, I would love to see some of the pictures taken last year. Any comment?

The Compact Vision System is not a Compact FieldPoint module. Like the Compact FieldPoint Controllers, it is a LabVIEW RT Target. With the serial & ethernet ports, you can use the embedded LabVIEW code to talk to FieldPoint or Compact FieldPoint systems, but it does not plug onto a Compact FieldPoint backplane, nor do Compact FieldPoint modules plug into it. FYI, the "CompactFieldPoint IMAQ module" is being called "Compact Vision System" or "CVS". Yes, it looks really exciting.

A clarification - the State Diagram Editor is released and shipping. It is an add on toolkit and not part of the pro version of LV, nor is it included in any dev suite package. It's pretty cool! There is a booth you can visit at the expo where you can give it a test drive.

I definitely recommend checking out the Friday session on creating Express VIs... the add-on toolkit for creating custom Express VIs released yesterday and is now orderable. The developer of the toolkit will be presenting the session. The toolkit is orderable today and should ship shortly.

OK, I take the blame. But only in Texas would a brewpub a) not have beer and b) not have food. Hey, at least there was no cover charge!

This week will actually be the announcement. I don't believe it's shipping yet, but it is orderable. There is also, of course, the Express VI Development Toolkit. It's really very interesting too. They're both on NI's Products Pages now so you can get some info there. Definitely go to the session on it.
