In the spirit of "pay first, ask questions later", now that I have my ticket ... Is transportation provided, or do we have to get ourselves to the restaurant?

There's no plan for transportation; last year some people worked out carpools. Taxis are probably also an option but I can't speak to that personally.In the spirit of "pay first, ask questions later", now that I have my ticket ... Is transportation provided, or do we have to get ourselves to the restaurant?
Last year I just walked to the Scholz Garten in a group with some other people. It's about 1.2 miles by foot, so roughly a 30-minute walk (depending on which side of the convention center you start from
).As far as I know, no one died last year, but survival is not guaranteed.

You're right though, according to Google, it's only "about" 1.0 miles from the north-west corner of the convention centre.

I walked last year - the "Block Diagram Party" (groan) is on in the expo floor before the party, so grab yourself a beer there, then wander over (the sun's going down, so it's relatively cool by then).

Wow - this Justin guy's much more organized than the guy who used to organize the BBQ... Not bad for a vegetarian!In BBQ news, the 2011 LAVA/OpenG NIWeek BBQ is in the "LabVIEW News" RSS feed in LabVIEW's Getting Started Window this morning! Used part of my PayPal balance, woo. I figured out how to bill someone with an Amex card through PayPal, but haven't yet gotten to getting the $ back out. Another 30 or 40 LAVA BBQs should do it.

The Block (Diagram) Party is the official opening of the exhibition (downstairs in the Expo Hall), where you can wander the booths and have a few beers. From last year's NIWeek blog:
