I would like to be able to remove an element from the register for events callback node.

The only comment I have to the picture is:
"And NI says it's easy to customize a userinterface in LabVIEW for TestStand".

Ya well, that's total BS. It's pretty sad that TestStand was made by the same company that makes LabVIEW. You can't tell.

I can't follow the dicussion but maybe this is the solution:

I meant to say disconnect...
It might be like the bundle/unbundle by name where you can only remove an element when it's fully disconnected.
