  1. LabVIEW realtime support is only existing in the never officially released OpenG ZIP Library 4.1. That package is only available as download from earlier in this discussion thread here on LavaG and over at the NI forum I believe.

  2. Reminding all of you that this software just kept on developing in the last few years, and that it's affordable, and that it's super intuitive

  3. You should also know that this works not only with LabVIEW, but also with .NET and C#. And it really is super easy to learn and to use, the training curve maxes at about 4 days.

  5. Anyone this is still relevant for - If your looking for a LabVIEW(TM) based testing framework that covers multi-unit testing, as well as multi-product configuration, sequence editors, dynamic test loading and just something that is generally very intuitive, practical, and easy to use, you should check out TVI.

  6. Hey all, I know this is an old topic, but thought I'd pitch in in case it's still relevant to anyone- Although this topic is about in-house alternatives to TestStand, but there is a commercial alternative that might interest those of you that quitted TestStand because of its cost or because it is not so-user friendly - Testview's TVI is an affordable test automation framework that places at its center core test cases. The GUI is super intuitive for LabVIEW users, and the company is very attentive to costumers - upgrading and maintaining the software to keep it up to date, and to answer costumer's needs. 8. LabVIEW controls are not Windows widgets but fully created and maintained by LabVIEW itself. As such you can not locate LabVIEW controls with tools like AutoIT that assume that a user interface is based on controls that are implemented as Windows child windows. I'm not familiar with UIA, but the claim that it can identify and control LabVIEW controls does sound a bit strong to me. From what I know, LabVIEW controls are fully owner drawn and implemented using a LabVIEW internal object oriented system originally even implemented in standard C, but since almost certainly ported to a C++ system. As far as any external system is concerned a LabVIEW front panel does simply contain lines, texts and maybe some alpha shading but no controls whatsoever. The only entity that can access this object hierarchy for external applications is the VI server interface, but that is highly LabVIEW specific. So I would suppose one could develop an AutoIT plugin that goes over VI Server to control the UI of a LabVIEW VI.

  9. Almost 8 years later and there's a new test sequencing tool called TVI: http://tvi.co TVI offers test sequences creation and reporting engine and is very easy to use. It is aimed for teams who are considering a 3rd party test management tool, but are not ready yet to jump on the full scale that TestStand offers. Disclosure: I'm affiliated with Testview, makers of TVI.
