Hi, you should talk to the person/organization that provided you with LabVIEW and see if they have a licence for Application Builder. NI does not provide academic discounts for it however (http://www.ni.com/education-platform/discounts/ ).

But anyway, is it a requirement for your project to produce an .exe? You can run full LabVIEW programs on your development machine without an .exe

  4. A little rant here, this is something I've been thinking about for awhile and I would like some feedback: I don't recycle. If I did I would put absolutely everything in the recycle bin and I would like to see a civil protest movement to do just that. Why? Because recycling is not something that people should have to think about, and it's too important to leave it to joe six pack. Recycling should not involve average citizens having to figure out whether something should or shouldn't go...

      >> responsible waste disposal

      > That's a loaded term...

I apologize. Let's stick to the word "recycling" then.

      >> Is this an expression against government control?

      > Yep.

      1. Would you recycle if it was fully voluntary?

      2. Have you spoken to your local representatives to discuss a more acceptable solution?

P.S. A little dog poop in brownies is detrimental to one's health, but a minor inconvenience is not. More importantly, we're talking about a minor (admittedly ongoing) inconvenience that brings long-term benefits.

I'm still trying to understand the strong resistance against responsible waste disposal here. Is this an expression against government control? Or does the procedure degrade your quality of life more than non-responsible disposal would (e.g. long-term increases in air pollution and living costs)? I genuinely find that extra bins and cleaning my waste to be a non-issue; perhaps it affects others more than I realize...?

...and conserve resources so our cost of living doesn't rise. What's unacceptable about that?

@jcarmody Following your reasoning, you're not a free man anyway since you're "forced" to adhere to table manners in a restaurant, right?

Sorting garbage doesn't cost us anything, unlike slavery. We don't have to sift through our bin -- we just bring them to the appropriate bin in the first place, that's all. No part of our lives are lost. Instead, we stop poisoning our soil (e.g. less batteries in the landfill), and conserve resources so our cost of liv...

And, what alternative system do you propose, that will enable effective recycling in a society where citizens don't think about it?

(LAVA ate my post) ...After all, we make decisions all the time (on-the-fly or planned) -- what clothes to wear, what to feed our kids, how to budget for our needs and wants, who to spend time with, which politicians to vote for... so why shouldn't we decide which bin to use?

You say it's "too important", but also say "people shouldn't have to think about it". That's contradictory, IMHO -- if it's important, then people should be consciously aware about it.

Can you explain your reasoning in more detail? What's the deficit in having the average citizen decide which bin to use? I think as a whole, we're quite capable of doing it without much effort at all. Not perfectly perhaps, but capably enough. After all, we mak...
