Triggering on the first pulse of a repeating finite pulse-train with NI Scope

I need to sample one full period of an analog signal.

The signal is structured as a repeating series of N pulses followed by a longer idle period, then the signal repeats.

The full repeat is on the order of seconds, the pulses can be in the 50us range.

Is it possible to configure the scope to wait until it HAS NOT acquired data for some period, and then acquires on the next trigger? This would ensure that it triggers on the first pulse.

As it stands now, I just grab >2x periods and use software to find the first pulse. On some of my tests, this will require too much bufffer.
