Hi,

I noticed my disk state had become really bad and was affecting performance, my page file was split all over the place.

I wondered what disk defreg tools people used or would recommend as an alternative to the included windows XP degragmenter, which seem very slow and does not really seem to fully do the job that is asked of it.

cheers

Hi,

On my work PC I use WinXP's defragmenter, I launch it once a while before going for lunch so I don't really care about how slow/fast it can be.

If you look for an alternative solution, I recommend having a look at AlternativeTo.net I quite like this website and the voting system like in StackOverFlow, here for Windows defrag softs.

Hope this helps

Hi Danny, you could check out the trial version of Diskeeper09. IMO, its the best defragger. Been running it without any problems and it defrags perfectly in automatic mode, under low free space and without affecting other programs running. Also defrags the MFT and Paging file and handles even the severest fragmentation. I suppose I cant place a link here, you could download the free 30 day trial from their site.

I really like, and recommend, the free program JkDefrag:
