How to embed the NI Vision Acquisition Software in a LabVIEW GUI?

Hi,

I am trying to embed the NI Vision Acquisition Software in the front panel of a LabVIEW program I am writing. I need to control the NI Vision Acquisition Software from my program, it is not for display only. I have been doing some research but I am not sure if this is possible and how hard that would be.

Alternatively I could launch the NI Vision Acquisition Software from my LabVIEW program but I would like to integrate everything into one software. The only relevant documentation is found is this: Connecting LabVIEW to 3rd Party Software Packages - National Instruments (ni.com). I would like to hear if anyone has managed to integrate and control a third party software from a LabVIEW front panel. Any advice would helpful.

Thank you for your help!

Best,

Benoit

Are you talking about VBAI? I thought Vision Acquisition Software is just the different IMAQ camera drivers so I'm not sure exactly what you're looking to embed from the drivers.

Possibly the fact that when you install VAS (Vision Acquisition Software) you get a pretty small subset of VIs from the VDM (Vision Development Module) also installed. I'm not sure if that does include the IMAQ Vision control, but maybe it doesn't.

Vision Builder AI does have a button that was something like "Generate VIs" which would create the VIs that would do the functions that Vision Builder AI did for you.  This was a one way street and wouldn't let you make changes and convert it back.  But still being able to drag functions and test things out, then see the VIs that would do that work for you would make for an easy development process.  Again no idea if this is what OP is talking about.

Like I said. Vague recollections. But it was a control that you could add and remove vision functions (rakes, morphologies etc) on-the-fly. It was more like an activeX control. I played with it for a while but never used it. It may not even have been the Vision Builder. But I do remember it was the same as the bottom panel of the actual application where the vision steps were displayed.
