"LabVIEW"

I have trouble pronouncing "LabVIEW" (the "bv" part is tricky), so I think of it as "El Vee". Doesn't everybody? :(

I do to admit, though, that I don't think I ever actually pronounced that way out loud, so maybe I should think that everybody does.

The 'bv' sound, known to the technical minded linguist as the "rasberry noise" can be approximated by placing your lips on you forearm or significant other's belly and blowing forcefully. I heard there was a cheer performed at niweek by a team of developers that featured this sound. I missed it so I am not sure if they used the arm or belly method. The cheer was designed to build up interest in the new license agreement for LV9.0.

While we're on the subject of LabVIEW, has anyone noticed that when you are typing in a post, the automatic spell checker here on LAVA underlines LabVIEW as if it is miss spelled? LAVA, however, is not.

I hear rasberries in the background...

At the expense of more raspberries, you may notice that the automatic spell checker feature is not available when typing from within SOME browsers.

No, not me.

I have given up on built-in spell checker feature for the future. So has Invision (the makers of the forum engine). FF2.0 has spell checking built-in. Time for you to upgrade. Also, the Google toolbar gives you spell checking on any browser. Get a tool that does spell checking for you in any browser on any web page.

Ah, but you've just broken the rule that is the whole point of this thread  :)

It needs to be Lab\/13W

But wouldn't 1337 be outside of the rules anyway? :P It is more like a translation... ;)

:P The intrenet wsa funoded on speeling mitsakes - theer's fra too mnay sepll cehckres uto theer!

A good spell checker might help with misspellings of LabVIEW. I added LabVIEW to my FF2.0 dictionary, and now I receive no red underline for LabVIEW.

However, these all have red lines under them (as does the majority of your above quote, sheesh!) LabView Labview LABVIEW

Holy cow, Elmer Fudd has hacked this thread!

Spelling, grammar and punctuation mistakes are a pet peeve of mine, especially on the internet (my mom is a reading specialist, so she pounded it into me).

This has earned me the title of "Grammar Nazi" on one of the online BBs I administer. It was originally intended to be an insult to me, but I embraced it.

There ya go!

Someone should do a VI that will generate all of the possible letter and capitalization combinations for the word "LabVIEW" and post it in this thread.

I'd do it, but unfortunately, after my morning slack time is over, I'll be spending all day with my head in a machinery control system.
