Icon Art Glossary

Hello,

I have a question/comment about icons. NI's Icon Art glossary is a cool concept but I would like a greater selection of icons. Does anyone know of an icon glossary similar to NI's but with more selection?

I'm sure you've seen this but open up LabVIEW and your MyPictures folder and drag and drop an image from MyPictures into the VI icon in the upper right. I believe this ability began with LabVIEW 8 (don't quote me on that though! )

With that kind of ability and google you can set any image out there as your icon.

But still, you have a legitimate question as to having another collection of LabVIEW-like icons. It may exist but I really haven't searched so I'm not sure....

Recently I use the tango set from freedesktop

They inspired Ubuntu and the GIMP

Actually it's more something like LabVIEW 5 or 6 . But it could have been BMP only (PICT etc on Mac) back then.

Not to get your hopes high, but I am working on a Boolean XControl with a configurable picture and text, it should be ready for first release in 2 weeks.

Using cut and paste into the icon editor is pretty easy. There was a thread on the NI forums where I gave this example file.

You're absolutely right, I was lumping this in with all the drag and drop additions that came with the Project Explorer in LabVIEW 8 (I actually just searched through the http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/371780a.pdf' target="_blank">Upgrade Notes to be sure ).

Another method I learned over on NI: search for small images "32x32" (and any other description) under Google image search. Right-click and copy an icon. Open edit icon in LV and paste.

What are the licensing restrictions on icons on this page? Some of these icons include trademarks, so I can't imagine that these are all free-and-clear for use in other programs. I couldn't find any licensing information on the website anywhere.

Here are two VIs to load a picture (icon?) into an image dat, Nice feature is that the icon of the VI represents the Image data (not very intelligent so I would advice to keep it under 32x32 pixels.

One master VI and one template that is neccesary.
