Our multi-national client develops and produces a specialized series of testing devices.

Location: Greater Boston, MA (MetroWest)

DESCRIPTION:

The individual who fills this position will serve as a corporate-wide resource and be critical in directing its strategic direction for PCB assembly and product final test. The Sr. Test Engineer is responsible for design, implementation, and technical support of all legacy product test systems used in our client's Ultrasonic Instrument Manufacturing departments, as well as those used at contract manufacturers. This position is also expected to help ensure that test systems for new products are designed to provide optimal test coverage, resonable test system cost and short test cycle time.

RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Assessment of product Design for Test (DFT), and provide recommendations for improvement of legacy products and new product designs - especially for PCB assemblies.
  • Analysis and specification of parameters to be tested resulting in a Test Requirements Spec (TRS)
  • Conceive of, and otherwise contribute technically to, the test system hardware and software design architecture. Prepare for and participate in design reviews to efficiently apply this knowledge.
  • Hands on design of state-of-the-art Mfg Test Systems by programming in LabView and boundary scan test software.
  • Apply expertise of high performance test & measurement instruments, methods, proprietary technology, and test fixture design.
  • Create and maintain test procedures.
  • Configuration control of Test hardware and software is essential.
  • Design verification of test fixture hardware and software using UUT samples.
  • Produce all documentation required to build and the test systems and procedures deployed in Manufacturing. Release and maintain under ECN control.
  • Prompt support of Manufacturing and Contract Manufacturers as required.
  • Deliver initial training of production teams with transfer of new product to volume manufacturing.
  • Interface with engineering, marketing, quality control, and Operations

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High level of technical competency in the design and development of state-of-the-art test systems - specifically:high density digital circuitry,analog circuitry and power supplies, high precision instruments, and transducers
  • Expertise with LabView programming, or equivalent
  • Boundary scan (JTAG) programming experience is desirable.
  • Effective specification and use of high performance test equipment and other off the shelf equipment used in electronic test systems.
  • The ability to create and maintain clear, thorough and comprehensive test system documentation (including software), and procedures.
  • Must be very resourceful in overcoming a broad range of technical and operational problems
  • Must be comfortable working in fast paced high technology environment and working closely with R&D Engineers.

EDUCATION:

BSEE, or BSCS or BS Math or Science or equivalent, MSEE a plus.

EXPERIENCE:

Five plus years of experience in computer/electronic design or diagnostic and test development, (related to Automated Test Equipment, Design or Test in semiconductor industry preferred)
