In LV, a child class cannot have a static-dispatc method with the same name as its parent. This is called "shadowing" in other languages. If I had any doubts about that decision, today's text code debacle has cured them.

A little rant here, this is something I've been thinking about for awhile and I would like some feedback: I don't recycle. If I did I would put absolutely everything in the recycle bin and I would like to see a civil protest movement to do just that.Why? Because recycling is not something that people should have to think about, and it's too important to leave it to joe six pack. Any large community must have a common set of rules by which it governs its action (Strictly different from "morals" by the way). Without these rules, we tend towards anarchy. Preventing such anarchy is what allows these large communities to thrive and avoid catastrophic meltdowm (they run smoothly). Having rules without enforcement is nonsensical.
How large you WANT your community to BE in regard to these rules is a matter for politics. With regard to waste recycling,...

So your problem is with the law then? You disagree with the laws in place to ensure that society runs smoothly in general, or only the ones you don't like?

But why limit your "unfree" consequences to the state. Even if the state doesn't get involved in your naked banana run, I'm sure your neighbors wouldn't be too impressed with you. There you would already have a negative consequence entirely separate from the STATE. Is that still freedom? If so, why the distinction?

I also find the presence of the "free man" argument to be completely bogus. You are completely free to do what you want. Up to and including running down the street naked with a banana stuck in you ear.
Will there be consequences? Yeah. And guess what, you get to choose which you would rather have, another choice a "free man" can make.
But on an absolutist scale you cannot be truly "free" as long as you are bound by physics. Try not breathin...

Recyclable materials have more value if they're pre-sorted before being thrown away. This is exactly what makes it financially interesting for private companies to actually recycle. If the public doesn't play their part, then the whole thing is too expensive.

I disagree. I think grass roots awareness of the intricacies of recycling is very important in getting the recycling message across.
