hi all, the default background colour for labview is grey. is it possible to change it to another colour? (i.e. yellow, blue...) or is it possible to at an image picture to the background?

You can change the panel background color by selecting the paintbrush tool from the Tool Palette (View >> Tool Palette). You can change the default panel color in the Options Dialog (Tools >> Options >> Colors).

You can make an image picture the background by right clicking on a scroll bar and selecting properties. In the properties window you can change the background to an image.

    Regards,

Thanks for all for the suggestions so far.

Crelf, I was browsing the IEEE standards with IEEExplore and didn't find a standard number 1288. Are you confident about the standard number?

    Tomi

I am not familiar with IEEE standard 1288 either. The Software Requirements Specifications is IEEE standard 830-1998. Not sure it that was the document Crelf was refering to, but it is a good reference as well.

    Thanks Vinny.

I have done some sub-par GUIs on the TPC-2012 due to bugs, issues and general restrictions of using WindowsCE.

Since you have experience in both, is there a huge improvement over on screen graphics and general performance?

From a LV development standpoint I found working with WinXPE was identical to working on standard XP. I did not experience any performance issues either, but the application was not very resource intensive.

Is anyone using Windows Embedded XP on TPC development?

And can comment on the pros/cons including differences wrt Windows CE & using NI Touch Panel Module - especially graphics?

    KB, KB, Dark Side Forum

I am interested to know the differences as the TP Module and Windows CE can be a pig to program compared to standard LabVIEW and Windows XP - don't take my word - go ahead try it :)

    [Cross Post]

I've used WinXPE on a TPC with great success. I used an Advantech panel (TPC-1261) with a pre-configured distribution of WinXPE. We loaded up VISA run time and the LV run time and ran our application with no issues. We did start out using a panel with Windows CE and the TP module, but it was full of bugs and other issues.

I'm interested to see if anyone here has any direct experience with deploying an EXE that was built in LV on a computer using XPe and, if so, what their experience has been as well as to hear any suggestions they would have re: possible problems.

I have deployed LV applications to Advantech touch panel computers running XPe with no problems. I used the build of XPe that Advantech provided for the PC, and just installed the LV Runtime driver (LV 8.2 at the time), and VISA drivers. Everything ran off a compact flash card (1 or 2GB), so we had lots of room. Overall the process was very smooth and the solution was a success for the application.
