The Role: The position is for a full-time software engineer to join a small team developing pharmaceutical / laboratory instrument software. There are elements of motion control, hardware driver testing, architecture design, GUI design and algorithm development. Specifically, Cobalt is looking for LabVIEW coding experience for equipment control and automation, but experience with databases, GUI development, and other high level languages in a Windows environment are desirable. In addition the team is developing statistical tools for spectroscopic materials identification with an emphasis on algorithm development and chemometrics within environments including MATLAB. Experience: Instruments are validated against international regulatory standards and you will ideally have experience developing software within quality environments. Prior use of bug tracking and version control systems will be a significant advantage. Knowledge of data handling and user control for compliance with 21CFR part 11 will be of benefit. The development activities will be both within the company laboratory and in collaboration with customer groups. The Candidate: It is essential that the candidate can work well as a critical member of a small team. A committed and energetic individual at degree level, you will have a background and practical experience in equipment control in a laboratory and preferably industrial environment.
