Unfortunately it has to be optical. The UUT has fiberoptic transceivers which are controlled by an FPGA, which impliments a completely custom Manchester encoded data signal. If necessary, I'll design a small fiber-optic interface card which I can control with a DIO card. But I would rather not re-invent something that might already exist. Quote Link to comment

I have done some work in that area a long time ago, and we designed an ad-hoc interface of light sensors. Quote Link to comment
