  1. Indeed, I am now noticing a few more 'quirks' that I can attribute to the Windows 7 choice of default fonts and font sizes. I'm just glad that I'm not wasting time trying reinstalls etc. to cure them. Just have to live with them. I too have a high-res screen that is nigh on impossible to read at the normal DPI setting, but FP's look mental if I 'go large'. I seem to get the best compromise by using Win7 set to large and then overriding the LV defaults, i.e. in the INI, but I'm not optimistic about the final portability of my code to be honest (well, I never have been good at figuring out the best settings to keep the most users happy!) Cheers for all the input.
  2. Thanks for the suggestions. I was pretty sure it wasn't an ini file problem, since I deleted the old one before reinstalling. But yes, lo and behold, the DPI setting was the key. Don't recall how/when the change occurred (like most, I am a bit of a Windows tweaker) but certainly, reverting to the default DPI gets the increment/decrement buttons back closer together :-) Having said that, there's still a gap compared to other people's installations, so I guess there maybe some further Windows font tweaking I need to do in order for it to look 'normal'. At least I know the problem now, so I needn't lose sleep over it. Also I had been sent a VI that looked terrible, and was about to berate the author for the poor quality of their work, so you've probably saved me the embarrassment of having to eat humble pie and apologise to them :-)
  3. Not knowingly. How would I change the font size? I deleted the LV.ini file between uninstall and reinstall, so I assumed I was back to default settings. (I'm on Windows 7 with LV 2010 - does that matter?)
  4. Recently, when I tried to place controls/indicators on the front panel (e.g. from the modern palette) the appearance of some of them has changed from the fresh install versions. To illustrate, the numeric control now looks like this: when I think it should look like this (the usual appearnce, and how it appears on everyone else's computer): In other words, the increment/decrement buttons are messed up. There are some other bizarre variations with the booleans etc. It hasn't happened to all of the controls though. How do I revert them to the original state? I have tried a repair and even an uninstall/reinstall of LV, but no luck. If I knew where they were installed, i would just delete them and then do a repair, but I don't. Has it happened to anyone else, and more importantly please can someone help?
  5. QUOTE (crossrulz @ Apr 22 2009, 12:20 AM) Thanks crossrulz. :worship: Despite having an NZ flag on my profile, I'm actually English (and was educated there) and that might explains why the style is unfamiliar to me. As for my 'lossy paraphrasing', if the question is "Which of the following statements about arrays is false..." then I disagree with jdunham, and strictly-speaking E can't ever be the answer, since as pointed out, it isn't a statement about arrays (irrespective of it's truth/falsehood!) In other words, any of A, B, C or D could be true or false statements about arrays, whereas E can only be a true or false statement about those prior statements! Perhaps this again is a reflection of my education making me too literal! By the way, have we settled on an answer?! (Are array elements ordered?)
  6. Re; q30 - I realise I made a mistake in interpretation. I misread asking how "to view animation... while the program is running" as how do you start an animation of a running program. :headbang: As for q16, I'm actually not bothered about the actual discussion of arrays, more the logic of the question. I mean, in logic terms the question asks which one of the following is false: statement A statement B statement C statement D statement E and statement E is a logical statement that A, B, C and D are all TRUE. so, E = A AND B AND C AND D therefore either all are true or more than one (including E) are false. Have I missed something? I can't see how there is any situation where only one statement is false
  7. I've attached a couple of q.s that I thought were impossible to answer correctly if taken absolutely literally. I mean, surely q16 is a no win situation. If any of A, B, C or D is false, then E is also false. If A, B, C and D are all true, then E is true, so there can't be only one correct answer...? I think they want you to say B, but if you over think... For q30, isn't the real answer that you might have to click 'Highlight Execution' to toggle highlighting on (if it is currently off) but you will then certainly have to click 'Run' or 'Run Continuously' if you want to see any animation? Actually, that assumes it's not already running, if you want to be really pedantic! I think the more you know, the easier it is to get tripped up!
