larry4882
We are considering an upgrade of a large amount of code from LabVIEW 5.1.1 to 7.1, and at the same time upgrading the OS from Windows NT4 to either W2K Pro or XP. Before we do this, I am documenting all of the potential problems and risks we may encounter when performing this upgrade that could cause broken arrows and negatively affect program behavior, performance or introduce / uncover bugs in the code. Please reply directly to larry4882@yahoo.com with any comments, thoughts or experiences you've had when upgrading LabVIEW. Thank You! Quote Link to comment
AnalogKid2DigitalMan
One issue for serial and GPIB communications is that the current version of LabView uses VISA commands. Have you looked at hardware issues, for example ISA expansion cards. It is hard to find 'current' PC's with an ISA bus. And a related note- DAQ driver software; current versions of DAQmx do not support some legacy DAQ cards. Just some ideas that came to mind you may want to look into more about at NI's site. m3nth
As the previous post said... what hardware will you be toting along with your software upgrade? Quote Link to comment
AnalogKid2DigitalMan
Once you save a vi in 7.1, there will be no way to open or run it in 5.1. So back up all 5.1 code onto CD for archival purposes. Unless you want to save as 7.0 in 7.1, then save as 6 in 7.0, then save as 5 in 6 (if possible). Quote Link to comment
