Hi,

I prefer AutoIt v3 :thumbup: .

When using their SciTe-editor you also have access to a form builder

for fast and easy creation of simple GUI's.

The best part is that it's freeware and it's very simple to create small executables

(even with encryption to prevent decompilation).

If you try it, I recommend installing the beta release because it also supports

some nice things like a context menu for a trayicon...

Thanks for pointing these out. They seem very promising for quick tasks and small utilities.

Any idea how these scripts work? Do they turn around and call VBScript, or Windows API, or something even lower-level?

Has anyone use the import dll function to import the functions of either of these to Labview. I would like to use the functionality but I do not like giving control to a script from another language.

Has anyone used LabVIEW to create a script for one of these tools and then envoked the tool to automate LabVIEW functions? There are still things we can do from the LabVIEW menus and buttons that we do not have programmatic control over.

I recall an issue with MAX losing ID for Firewire cameras if the system was powered down. We had to manually go into MAX and reset them. No way to do it programmatically. A workaround would have been to have LabVIEW detect the problem, then invoke a script in one of these tools to start MAX and rest the IDs. Kludgy, but it would probably work.
