Test Engineer needed - medical device manufacturing

DESCRIPTION: With guidance from Management, participates in the

successful integration of new products into a flow based manufacturing

system through the design, development, and programming of automated

test equipment, and as assigned, provides ongoing technical support for

Philips /Respironics distributed products.

The incumbent will effectively use Respironics' system, tools, and high-

level engineering skills to develop and validate automated production

test fixtures equipment for successful pre-production, pilot run, and

subsequent full-scale production. Effective technical judgment and

interpersonal skills are required to successfully initialize

enhancements to existing test equipment to improve their design,

manufacturability, quality, first pass yields, and to reduce overall

product and process costs.

Provide sufficient and competent technical expertise in support of

improving product quality and cost through interaction with Quality

Assurance, New Product Development, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Technical

Service and Marketing. Consistently support New Product Development

projects to achieve manufacturability, reliability, performance within

acceptable process capabilities, and cost and quality goals.

Outcomes: The successful candidate will:

Design and develop software testing applications for automated

testing equipment to be used for integrating and testing of

electromechanical biomedical devices. Design electronic and mechanical

hardware for automated testsystems. Work with drafting, model shop, manufacturing

engineers andtechnicians to design and build improved assembly and test equipment for

both electro-mechanical and electronic assemblies to improve quality and

efficiency as well as mitigating human errors. Provide engineering support for

new product development relativeto testing equipment needed to achieve reliability

and performance within acceptable process capabilities and delivery goals.

Willingness to travel approximately 5% split between suppliervisits and exploring new technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering.

EXPERIENCE: 2+ years of work experience with a proven track record of problem

solving and relationship building with both external and internal

customers. Must have 2+ years of software development experience; LabVIEW

and C or C++ experience is required. Must have 2+ years of analog and digital electronics design

experience. Must have experience with designing mechanical jigs and fixtures;

CAD experience a plus. Ability to write professional reports, test specifications and

procedures. Conduct basic and statistical analysis.

Experience with medical device manufacturing strongly preferred.

Knowledge of how to conduct FDA-compliant validation for test

systems and software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position primarily requires sitting, standing, and walking. Also

requires frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs. Must have fine

manipulation and grasping skills, as well as the ability to reach,

twist, and bend on an occasional to frequent basis. Must be able to

travel by plane and driving a car.
