How to output manually created signal IOtech Daqboard3k

I'm new to labVIEW, but I've been trying to do a lot of reading (labview for everyone) and working through the examples provided with the card bought for our project, but I'm having a lot of trouble finding a way to output a manually created signal through one of the analog out ports.

The documentation doesn't seem to be quite thorough enough from IOtech for the board I'm using (for a new guy). In the end, all I need to be able to do is have a VI that starts the output signal and starts recording on 8 channels after a trigger and outputs it to a file. I think I can handle the trigger and setting up recording and outputing to a file, but I can't seem to find a way to produce the signal with the example and how to VIs enclosed. Has anyone else done this?

Enclosed is an example "How to" I've tried to understand.
