Hi all, How do i change the channel to acquire from while running. i have 60 buttons laid out each has channel numbers associated with it in another vi not attached here but for simplicity below is wat i have done the numeric to string will be the channel name+number, since the selectionprocedure happens from a numeric control on FP in my requirement. final goal is i need to be able to select a channel and view its graph on FP without stopping the program. problem is i have 60 channels to read from and thought to make each case foreach channel with corresponding name, but is there a better way to doit. any help is much appreaciated, Thanks in advance select channels programmatically LV8.2_modvi(2).vi

Hi ppl, need help I have an application which involves a lot of subvis and all need to be opened once set them to run, minimize or just disappear and give back control to main vi. problems are: 1) since there are many subvis and all needed to be running , the laptop screen fills up and so , if minimized to taskbar it still is a problem to navigate with lots of subvis running, so, can the subvis be made like this-- pop-up when i click button on the main vi and then run/stop my sub vi manually and press button on subvi to disappear while it is still running in the background, If i wish to see it again It should be able to pop it up again when i press the same ok button on main vi. Please see attached, just simple vis, the number on the main vi front panel should be still running after once i start the subvi and make it disappear. I tried with the suspend when called on subvi node setup, when i try to close the window, control is returned to main vi but it stops running and then exits. tried with vi reference, fp.close, fp.state hidden but i cannot get it work as wished This same ok button should be able to bring back the subvi from hidden ,so basically it acts in 2 ways, 1st time for popping up subvi and later just unhide, so that i can view and hide the running subvi whenever i want anyway around this thanks

Thanks for the reply, i will need more time to learn jki state machine, but for now its kind of urgent so, im attaching my vi , please help!! I am using 2 elapsed time vis ideas: 1) I can use a case structure but the 8hrs timer gives out a boolean only when elapsed and instantly changes to false, if some how i can make that boolean to be true for 30 secs and do my operation and change back to false while the 8hrs timer resets at its time 2) I can use the get start time of hrs timer and add 30 sec to it and give it to 30 sec timer's "set start time " and do my operation within that 30 secs and wait for 8hrs again but, i am unable to do any of these may be because both are in the same while loop or something, even if put a while loop around the 30 sec timer and stop the loop when time up, its not working, it still resets, i need something that can start a while loop (programatically) not when we press the run button, 3) if we make the 30 sec timer a subvi and put in a case structure and contol its running/run button... 4) if you can give me in a standard state machine i guess i can understand, but im thinking if the 8hrs elapsed it will wait for the 30 sec thing to happen and then start 8hrs again, but i need to run that 8 hrs,8hrs,8hrs silently in the background and do 30 sec thing simultaneously, not wait for 30 secs any help would be much appreciated??? thanks
