  4. QUOTE (ned @ Jan 20 2009, 04:26 PM) Very good suggestion, updated file also attached. thanks QUOTE (crelf @ Jan 20 2009, 04:38 PM) That's a really important one - it's a filter I use on resumes I get. If the candidate doesn't know the correct capitalization either they're lazy or don't know enough about lABview Right. Thanks for your suggestions. Any more suggestions? BTW, I am watching BBC live now QUOTE (TobyD @ Jan 20 2009, 04:34 PM) I would expect to see some sort of header with your name and possibly contact information. HAHA, I have them on my version. Thanks for your remind
  5. Dear all, I understand that my question may not fit well in this forum. However, I consider myself a Labview programmer, so giving a labviewer's suggestion on his resume should not be off topic. There are a few reasons that may cause me not able to get interview. One is my resume, so could anyone please give me some suggestions about my resume? thanks
  6. QUOTE (crelf @ Jan 16 2009, 06:41 PM) why you want to be a CLD? Here is the reason. A 28 year old man cannot finish his Ph.D. in Neural Engineering, so he only has a MS in Neural engineering to leave the lab. With his previous B.S and M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, he thought he could find a job. However, even if car wash, food preparation, and baby sitter jobs did not reply his application. His "PhD Wife"'s friend said he should paid $5500 to NI to take the courses and using 3 months to pass all the exams (Not only CLAD and CLD, but also CLA), but he can't afford more than $500. He doesn't want to others to keep looking down him (This was what happen in his PhD lab), so he study himself and want to get the exam pass. One of the reason is to help him having a better resume. The other reason is to help him have a better life in front of his wife's friend QUOTE (mross @ Jan 16 2009, 07:24 PM) Yes, indeed. It is hard to say this in a blunt and kind way so please understand I mean this to be kind and helpful, a person who does not understand data flow needs to develop some real applications, have them fall apart, and be forced to solve those problems with minimal outside help. Can you really pass the CLAD and not understand data flow? What kind of test is it? Mike Well, I understand data flow. However, I asked what is data flow in the forum yesterday Here is the reason. In the Labview presentation, the name sounds like " know labview in 6 hrs", it mentioned that communication between loop using wire is not possible. (I am not a native speaker.) What is communication mean here?? If first loop finish and pass the data to the 2nd loop, I consider that is communication! I think at that point maybe I miss the term "parallel running". When you guy answers my question yesterday using the term "data flow", I was trying to confirm what I understand is correct only. (Just like if people ask you the difference between "See" and "Watch", You can use those verb correctly, but you might not know how to explain. So, listen other people explanation is another way to learn)

  10. QUOTE (jcarmody @ Jan 15 2009, 05:44 PM) What is data flow? As I know Communicating between while loop using data flow is NOT possible But Why the VI in the pic is OK? 12. Communicating between case structures using data flow is possible or not?
  13. I did the online fundamental exam 3 times today, results was 32 30 32 out of 40 I can only think of 1 to 2 mistakes that I have made in each test I don't know what other mistakes I have made because the exam only shows the number of correct..... One more MCQ The main disadvantage(s) of using the VI architecture shown below is: [2 case structures inside a while loop with a stop button connected] A there is no way of shutting down the VI during execution. B you cannot use wires to pass data between case structures. <=== My choice, but not sure is correct C the block diagram can become very large and hard to read, edit, and debug. <== Make sense too D All of the above

  15. Please tell me which are the correct answer !! 1) In LabVIEW, you may print to all of the following, EXCEPT: A Printer B HTML C Plain Text D All of the above are possible printing options <== My choice 2) Delays should be added to While Loops: A to reserve memory. B to reserve CPU usage. <== My understand is that "reserve is passively saving" <== my choice C to free up memory. D to free up CPU usage. <== My understand is that " free up is actively eliminating" 3) To place an Express VI on the Block Diagram you would select it from the: A Controls Palette <== I can find a table express VI here (I assume express VI are the VIs have blue think boundary) B Functions Palette <== This must be correct C Icon Palette D Tools Palette 4) If an Error Cluster displays a non-zero error code coupled with a status of FALSE, it signals: A a non-fatal error. B a fatal error. C a warning. <== my choice, because status of False means no error?? D no error. If C in Q4 is correct, what should I see in the error cluster display if a non-fatal error happen?

  17. Read an old Labview Basic manual once time already, wrote down key points for review Did 3 times online exams, results were OK Did the sample CLAD exam. I underestimated the difficulty, so I only spent 20 mins to finish the exam, and I got 26/40 I found out that sometimes I misunderstand the questions, sometimes I don't understand the meaning of the questions. Because of these make at least 8 mistake. I did not review my note before do the sample exam, so other 2 questions made mistake. The last 4 mistakes were because of lack of knowledge. I review the whole exam; find out and solve anything that I don't understand. I think I will read the manual again in the next 24 hrs and review my note. What else I should do? ================================= BTW, how many MCQs have more than 1 answer?
  18. I see an MCQ, there are two VIs one is add 2 number together one is DAQ vi inside a while loop which one is simple VI both of them are simple and general<-- that is what I think
  19. Hi, I have 2 Labview 101 questions. Could you please help? Functions»All Functions»File I/O»Advanced File Functions>>New File vi. I read a book which said this vi has an input of datalog type. Then I read the VI examples, I see an example which write the data into file with this VI. The datalog input is a bundle with string and DBLs. I also read the VI which read the output file generated by the previous VI. This VI also have the bundle (I can understand this part), but it also need me to open a datalog file (I don't understand this part). What is that datalog file? Doesn't the bundle contain all the information to read the data file?? Tools for identifying memory and performance issues i. Profile memory and performance ii. Show buffer allocations iii. VI metrics Can I find these topics from Labview for everyone?
  20. Dear all, I am reading a LV book using LV7. I see the read binary file VI, which has a pos offset input. However, I don't see the input in LV 8.5. If I only want to read from the 7th element in the binary file, should I read the whole file using the read binary file VI and then use array subset to take out the useful part?
  21. Where Should I put the simple error handler? Do I need to put it within every subVI? If I want the error handler keep checking error, should I put the handler inside a while loop?
  22. I seldom care about error, I will connect the error in/out only when I need to open/read/write/close file I see the simple error handle, there is an "error in". How can I use the "error in", where I can find the error source? If I need to Open a file, the error source is provided by the OPEN VI. I don't know what I should look for. I read some notes which said "Connect the Error In to the While loop, then the boolean will be changed to STOP if Error". I have no clue where I can find an "Error In" control/constant Can I create a VI just add two numbers and display the result with Error detection??
  23. All of the following are correct ways to view a SubVI on a Block Diagram, EXCEPT: A Expanded Node B Expandable Node C Icon D Modular Node DAQmx channels and virtual channels are a collection of property settings that include all of the following, EXCEPT: A base I/O address. B type of measurement. C scaling information. D physical channel. The DAQ Assistant can perform all of the following operations, EXCEPT: A Analog Input. B Frequency Measurement. C Digital Input. D Arbitrary Waveform Generation. Description and help information for a VI may be placed: A on the Block Diagram or Front Panel. B in File » VI Properties » Documentation. C Both A. and B. D None of the above Which of the following only plots data in evenly distributed intervals along the x-axis? A Waveform Graph B Waveform Chart C XY Graph D Both A. and B. E Both B. and C. Two more questions, 1) I set the "description and tip" in a meter; and I can see only "description" by using "show context help". How can I see the "Tip"??? 2) What is the difference between TIME DELAY and Wait ???
  24. QUOTE (TobyD @ Jan 5 2009, 09:24 PM) Thanks Everyone Thanks for every suggestions. I can feel the support from all of you. Even if I am facing many problems, I feel warm
  25. QUOTE (ASTDan @ Jan 4 2009, 06:31 PM) Thanks I have scheduled the CLAD exam on Jan16; and I will study very hard to pass the exam
