  1. Let's get to the point..

    I HATE MSN.COM~!!~!~~!~

My F@$!#@$#!@%$#%ing nefew went on a chat channel (not MSN, but through a portal... of some sort).

Now my BLOODY!!! start page is always MSN (DOES IT get ANY more AGreVatinG than THIS!!!???!?!? except for caps lock abuse, of course...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

SO, YES!!! I've tried all the conventional methods to restore start pages (tools, Internet options, home page address) and (tools, Internet options, programs, reset web settings), to doing a FULL search for ANY msn.com text in ALL files on my BLOODY!!!! PC!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. AND CHANGING the bloody msn.com to my usual address.... in ALLL the bLOODY text files!!!

    (DO I sound frustrated, yet???)

In any case.... Everytime I change that BLOODY!!!!!! address, it immediately reverts back to msn.com!!

Damn nefew!! Forever forbidden to touching any of the PC's in our house... :nono:

But apart from re-installing bloody windoze, is there a way from getting rid of MSN???

OK!! stop laughing!! this is serious... Bloody PC is posessed by the devil!! Billy Hell Gates!!

    help!! I'm going nuts...

(oh no... imagine alfa helping out on this one... ;) )

  2. It just shows a large negative number, which appears to be coming from the error out port on the init subvi.

If you post the negative number, we can have a better idea of the problem. You can also go in the Help Menu and enter the negative number under "explain error".

Did you configure the serial port? port number, rate, data bits, parity, etc...

    JLV

  3. Go to the bottom of the page, to the search field on the left and enter things like tunnel, and wiring, and maybe even wizard. If you try "tunnel wiring" you will get a page full of stuff. To find the right topic you might actually have to scroll down.

If that is too complicated you might try:

    Tunnel Wiring Wizard

That will be 5 cents please ...

I am using labview 8.0.1, the tool seems to be running fine, but the 'wire it' button is disabled. I select two tunnels and the button is disabled. I have not enabled Labview scripting could this be the problem?

  4. There are probably quite a few consultants, here.. ;)

Some of us are 1 co.-person, some others try to keep the headcount above 1.

It doesn't "feel" as if we are alone. Maybe some places can make you feel that way, but it's up to you to integrate yourself to each workplace.

I would not go back to being an employee. I don't see any real benefit of being an employee, plus there are some flexibilities... well rater some + & -, just as in anything...

The good... hummm... the idea of building your own company. The bad... well... it's better not to open that can of worms.. Just concentrate on the good. I never feel alone.. If I do, then I get together with other consultants.. Inspiration?? Wow.. there's an open floodgate in my brain.. wholly crap.. some many ideas, not enough time in this life.. but that's ok.. 5 hrs of sleep should be enough :D

The difficult part is dealing with bigger competition. It's a dog-eat-dog world out there. You either have to be better (technically) or be a better salesman... And then it boils down to cost (to the customer).

You do get that extra boost of learning, and oh boy do you learn lots!!!

And a regular work-week is approx 80 hours, but you get 40 hrs worth of earnings..

Vacation / time off.. grab some whenever you can..

But do have fun.. and enjoy what you do.. Keep positive no matter what, and if you fall, get up and remember that you are a human being.. then smile...

    :D

  5. Alfa,

You seem EXTREMELY depressed... You have to let go the past! And don't hang on to it by some "negative timelines"... there's that negative word again..

Just turn that bloody page and move forward with life. You can't change the world. It's parts of every individual's growth.

There are only 3 things you should focus on:

    1. your daughter (show her examples of how wonderful life is... don't forget, you're her model.. and it's not a positive one (based on your posts).

    2. get a job.. any job.. wash dishes for "name_of_your_higher_being"'s sakes!! Contribute to society instead of saying rediculous things like 97.7% of humans are animals!! You're wrong!!! 100% of humans are animals, mamillians for that matter.. possibly evolved from stupid monkeys... So what if too many humans kept traces of their ancestors.. so be it! Concentrate on work and stop thinking negative thoughts!

    3. Get laid... Not Late.. Laid.. You know, that good old ancestral animal instict that keeps the population growing. Since you have a daughter, then you know the drill ;) It does wonders to forget about life's little troubles. Have fun. Smile. Look at yourself in the mirror, tell yourself you love the person you see and laugh about it.. Life IS wonderful. And life is merely a reflection of how you feel about yourself. Work on that sense of humor.. Women luv a great sense of humor. Go to a bar and learn "story-telling" from some British dude. They are awesome at telling good stories. Laugh, drink & be merry.. for life IS very short... so don't waste one moment not having fun!!!

And as for all those theories that you come up with.... you're not the first and you won't be the last.

Live TODAY....!!!!! not tomorrow and certainly not yesterday...

You may hate what I wrote, but so be it..

Now enough talk about police & negative stuff.. Have fun!... Write some Labview code that makes you happy. Or better yet, write some LV code that makes everyone in this forum HAPPY.

    Happy... happy... happy...

(now if we could only get a bit of sunshine...)

    :star: :star: :star: :star:

  6. Note to self: Do not forget to post the above message to prevent a time paradox and the destruction of the Universe.

I hate that when it happens..

I spend 578 years recovering from a time paradox.. in a while loop! And it wasn't "Ground Hog Day" either..

And to top it all off... I didn't have my :camera: and no

The good news is that after recovering from it, I actually used the negative time capsule which brought me back in the future before the paradox occurred, thus preventing it. Now, it's just a FLASH memory..

  7. I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one... I want one...

Did I mention that I want one!! WOW! What a toy!! beats reading a :book:

    then I'll do this :throwpc:

  8. OOps,

J'ai oublier que plusieurs d'entre vous ne sais pas que je suis un francophone... ;)

Ah.. yes the French.. During a 2 week business trip, we tried to find a "bad" restaurant.. In other words, bad food. So we went to a train station in Clairment-Ferront (I misspelled it for sure) and the food was beyond superbe! Wow!! If only we had such good food here! And the wines.. Absolutely delicious. Although I was very impressed with the German whites as well.

Quoting Ben: "Some day I'll share my theory that gravity can actuall travel faster than the speed of light." :lightbulb:

Yes.. I tried one of those experiments and it got my mind spinning-round. The "G-Force" had an effect on my aura.. :worship: The side effect was that there was a negative gravity field around me for a few days... so I could keep any food down

  9. I blocked him for a while, but then saw sooooo many posts that I had to unblock him to read his comments.

It's sort of like rubbernecking at a car accident on the highway; you know you should just move along but you can't help but look. :o

    Well said Phillip.

I don't know why we waste our time with such a person... He seems to be projecting how he feels about himself onto many people/cultures/countries. He probably got confused about "Astral Projection" with "self projection", which is why he calls everyone stupid.. Shame really... He's doing it to himself... no other country wants someone like that... Maybe he's right, Canadians are stupid.. He should grab a cold  get some action and smile once in a while.. That activity might count as spiritual growth...

I like Germans, Canadians, Romanians (some of our best friends), Hongarians, even Americans... (not sure about the French ;) ).. Quebecers are fantastic (oh... the women... oh... )

I agree that this thread is like rubbernecking at a car accident.. We should ignore it..

  10. I'm not sure if we should sentence alfa to an SBBT or assume that he's already been the victim of one that went way past his breaking point. Hmmm, methinks the torturers slipped up on the volume setting and instead of 1 drop/10 sec they gave him 1 SB/10 sec

Considering the level of lucidity in his literary lines I'd estimate the torture went on for a couple of days at least

LOL!! Certainly an amusing thread... :D

I always thought that "Spirituality" had to do with personal growth and not "Country-where-I-live" bashing... ;)

I guess people evolve at different rates... some even backwards (in time, of course)!!! LOL!!! Tiz better than da local Pub!!

  11. Hi Guys,

I want to do a controller for a remote crane for my final project on University, and a try to do the controller by Labview.

But I can't to create a VI for this project, because a try to controller 3 DC motors

Can you know some VI to do this controller ??

    Tks in advanced

    Thunder

    :throwpc:

How do you control / drive the motor? From a HW perspective? Do you use a microcontroller, FPGA, etc.. WHat's between the power source and the motor itself?

    JLV

  12. Joel,

"time spinning in reverse" is not for a Canadian brain.

I lost everhything in Romania; they said in this colony is democracy.

Aren't you part of the 97.7%? You do live in Canada, don't you?

There is democracy here... not in reverse D'oh!!! ;)

I just wrote a book in the past 5 minutes... I kept the time in a tight while loop.

The title of my new book is:

"Those of you who think you know everything (about time reversal) are annoying to those of us who do". :book:

I visited the future and it's actually a Best-Seller. :camera: Very popular in Romania as well. :D

So what's keeping you in the world of eternal snow?

    :throwpc:

  13. Invited in Romania

I spoke again on DDTV channel in Romania about my book and they were so impressed they told me when I’ll go in Romania they want to do some programs with me.

So instead of complaining about Canada, why not go back in time to Romania. I hear it's very nice in the Spring of 1985. Sun shining, time spinning in reverse, book being un-read, DDTV de-broadcasting.. WOW. That's a fantastic discovery. Now, can we code your knowledge in Labview? Maybe unwire some delays to make time go faster..

    :worship: :worship: :worship:

Did you meet some Raelians in your travels? They did travel back in time from Quebec... but not as fast as they could.. ;)

  14. Ok, I just found out that there is currently no way to turn off the tip strips for listbox cells where the column width does not accomodate the cell text. I guess your best workaround would be to make sure the text in the cell does not go past the width of the column.

    -D

Is there any way to limit the width of the tip strip, as it is right now it is always one row until it gets to the end of the screen, it would be nice if it would start a second row based on a pixel width or somthing. Also is there any way to get this auto tip strip for string controls? If not would this be a good candidate for an XControl?

  15. A bunch of fools?!?

I, for one, am elated that NI, LAVA and Michael are taking this step! LAVA has, for too long, been stagnating, and I look forward to more NI-driven topics in the near future. I also think it's a great idea that NI is taking control over the content here - weeding out all of the forum topics that detract from the main thrust of what this site should be all about: LabVIEW and how awesomely great it is, and how awesomely great NI is for giving it to us!

Remember: if you're not with us, you're against us...

Speaking of fools, as such, I can only hope that when NI takes over, stimulating conversation like in this thread coninues to thrive. Are we going to have to turn in all are LAVA stuff as well (hats, shirts ...etc) or perhaps we could just send a check to NI, and promise to add their logo to all previously purchased merchandise.

  16. hey, but it's interesting how good that "pyhcoanalysis" fit's to the personalities ...

    You Are Miss Piggy

    miss-piggy.jpg

A total princess and diva, you're totally in charge - even if people don't know it.

You want to be loved, adored, and worshiped. And you won't settle for anything less.

You're going to be a total star, and you won't let any of the "little people" get in your way.

Just remember, piggy, never eat more than you can lift!

  17. Hi all

I am writing a program controlling a turntable to read angle using GPIB. I am getting the running reading from 1 point to another point through the read command. Now from that reading I want to sample data at every 500ms and put them into an array. I am struggling in that particular part if anyone has an example to send it to me I will be very happy. Thanks for your helps in advance.

I am pretty sure I am not capable of helping you. However, perhaps the person who made the following post can be of some assistance to you; his project seems very similiar to yours.

  18. No problem - don't rush!

I got my app working beautifully yesterday thanks to your help.

It now runs predictably, reliably, fast and exits cleanly. In fact I put a 200ms wait in the Receive state to slow it down so it doesn't use 100% cpu - on the PDA if you "exit" the application (as distinct from actually stopping it in LV), it just gets backgrounded but keeps chewing CPU so everything else slows down.

    Thanks again!

    Phil

Glad to here you got your application running. :D Here is the example I tried to send before. I also included the spawned watchdog VI. Set the path control on the communication3.vi to the location of the watchdog.vi and run. You should see a watchdog1 message in the sent message indicator every 10 seconds it will send another watchdog message. it will also send what ever message you send from the front panel. take a look at the code it should help you on your next project. Also, you may want to look into GOOP, I don't go anywhere without it.
