Twenty years ago, I was lucky enough to write some servo code for an antenna pointing system on a satellite.  I spent years designing, testing, debugging that code.  It was burned into ROM just prior to shipment.  Those chips cost more than my salary for a year back then.  I had to get it perfect.  With all the time I spent with that code, I can still see the lines of assembly language in my sleep.  LOL

Code robustness on first release has dropped in a lot of fields because you can patch and update.  Nothing wrong with that necessarily as long as its not safety critical but I do believe programmers can benefit from being part of a project that has to be right the day it leaves their hands.

For me personally, I started doing a lot more development with TestStand when I started my new job 2 years ago.   Since I had zero TestStand experience most of my time/energy has been spent coming up to speed on TestStand so I was over at the NI forums for that.   My need for advanced LabVIEW topics has been very small and my need to pose a question that has yet to be asked is even smaller.   I have found that my questions have already been asked by someone else in the past so the need to create a new topic is far less than before.

That does bring to mind a thought...search engines have become much more better over the last few years and on top of that people have become better at forming queries for search engines too.   Perhaps we see less new topics been created because the existing one's answer the questions sufficiently and the users can use that to answer the question.   Can you get a plot of # of views of a topic? Or maybe updates to old topics?

I also love LAVAG for my LabVIEW questions.   I want it to stay.

Answering the specific question posed, the only other space (other than NI.com) for LabVIEW content is the LabVIEW Maker Hub (https://www.labviewmakerhub.com/).  Its less Q&A for issues and more neat projects type of stuff. 

In my personal time I find myself spending more time  with the Raspberry Pi and Arduino related forums because it's relevant to the toys I am using.

This week I am taking the Test Stand I and Test Stand II classes in Cary, North Carolina at G2 Technologies.   I was wondering if anyone else on the forums happens to be here.  If so, let's chat in Real Life (RL)

What do you mean the LabVIEW Demo doesn't work on the PCTx?  Looking at the PCTx website (http://www.endurance-rc.com/software.php#labview) there is a LabVIEW project you can use to start with.

Has this occurence been reported to NI?  They might be able to work with Avast on this.

Short of writing a peice of LabVIEW code to go on the PC just to serve the time via NSV or some other method you got me.  Bang for you buck seems like the NTP time service is best.  Development is done, ready to deploy.  Hard to beat that.

The delete key doesn't remove the spam either. 

So that's what the "Unlock" option does.  That's good to know.

I saw on the Twitter feeds that Norm Kirchner was doing an impromptu presentation on Leap Motion at NIWeek.  Did that happen?  If so, can we get the code?????

Yeah I noticed some light related issues at first too.  I did figure that Best Buy has them on the shelf at the same price you can get them for on the website.

I bought a Leap Motion last night.  I am still playing with it and I am hoping to use it with LabVIEW this week.  Seems like a great excuse to use LV2013!!

Also if you haven't noticed Norm Kirchner is doing an impromptu Leap demo/presentation at #NIWeek.

I wonder if that means we could build a front panel control configuration and "drop" it on the front panel of a VI?

Well it looks like I am not going to make it to NI Week 2013 after all. But on the upside I do get to spend the week in Ireland the week prior.  That is a trip I am looking forward to taking. :beer_mug: :beer_mug:

Of course in reading the Oatmeal Comic and Forbes articles I kept drawing analogies to Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. 

I do find interesting that there are people out there who villify those who seek to profit from work.  Lord knows I don't show up everyday for the view.

This is definitely interesting..... a twisted part of me whats to put it on my teenage sons (18 and 19).  Of course I may learn more than I am comfortable knowing.

Never really thought about his why much?  I just like old video games and this guys lets me play them.  Occassionally I get to root around in the electronics as well.

Cool. On a slighty related note, there's a guy here who's opening up a 'retro-cade'. He's got a about a hundred game machines starting with Asteroids and going through a few things from the late 90s.  I've helped him refurbish a couple.  Lots of fun.  It's open in just a few days.  I can't wait.
