aginor
hi, i want to use the scanner mechanism as a x axis. if i conect 2 scanners i have a cheep xy table for experements!!! i think that scanners have an internal PID controler and the only data that takes from the PC is just the possision and the speed. i dont care about the image. this is not like the other projects that soneone wants to take the image in the LabVIEW. Please, help! Quote Link to comment
crelf
I'm guessing that your answer might be in the TWAIN spec. I don't know how to do it, but I'd love to hear what you come up with Quote Link to comment
ShaunR
Cool project. Be interesting to hear about what you come up with. I don't know much but them, but the things I do now about scanners is that they have on-board controllers. But, the motor is usually a stepper motor where each step is defined by the Y-axis resolution. A 300x300 dpi scanner means that the motor is stepped 1/300th of an inch for example (assuming a letter sized page). I suppose the worse case might be that you just take out the drive and axis and control it directly although I don't know what the interface is but it wouldn't take you long to figure it out. aginor
Yes ShaunR, thats the point!!! we must not change anything. the system will think that this is a scaner. we dont wont to write any drivers or special programing. just one VI with input 2 parametes: posision and speed! a total free XY table.(if you use 2 old and useless scanners) Quote Link to comment
