Mike Ashe
 Isn't cubix already dead? Dead? I get busy for a couple weeks and I feel like I lost touch with the planet. So what happened with Qubix? Quote Link to comment
crelf
Dead? I get busy for a couple weeks and I feel like I lost touch with the planet. So what happened with Qubix? I heard that NI has dropped the Qubix platform - maybe they found an existing COTS system that was comparable - might just be a rumour though... PS: Welcome back Mike We missed you! The latest news I heard are the same. NI seems to have dropped the idea to think about how to commercialise the Cubix platform. So it's a nice idea but it will probably never be sold in that form. Maybe an opportunity for a third party. With the LabVIEW Embedded Developer platform this would be very feasable, although I wonder about the commercial benefit of such, if even NI doesn't sees a chance to make it a profitable thing. Nico
It seems to be nice and price is attractive. I want one to. Quote Link to comment

NI speak about a new (HW) version for cubix, instead to use a multi board architecture use a all-in-one board. Anyway Spot is the cubix killer, look at the price, 499$ for a complete developer kit (include 2 spot boards). Also the technical characteristics are better tha cubix Ciao, Quote Link to comment

Also the technical characteristics are better tha cubix The price point may be the real sticker here. NI has almost always been a "premium price or nothing" type of company. In addition, as Rolf points out, NI has the LabVIEW Embedded platform to build up and I wonder if Qubix was sidelined so as not to steal any of Embedded's sales. I can imagine some customers trying to make do with Cubix when the Embedded and maybe an Analog Devices Blackfin was the right way to go. Still, I hate to see it go, it was a neat gizmo. Just like the folks that try to put together a cRIO system where cFP should have been used Anyway, as I said "maybe they found an existing COTS system that was comparable" Quote Link to comment
