Timing System for hot wheels cars

What would be the best way to program a timing system to time hot wheel cars? We will be using a drag racing "christmas tree" to let the user know when to release their car. The timer will start when the light turns green. What VI's would be the best to use for the easiest most reliable timing system? I am using Lab View 8.0.

I don't really udnerstand what you want. Could you show a part of the code you already have?

Since you want user interaction have a look at user events.
