  1. Good luck! For tracking progress, I recommend Weather Underground's Wundermap My 6-year-old loves looking at the animated radar map overlays during summer thunderstorms. If she can see the storm, how much more we have to go, and when it's going to get stronger, she is much less afraid of the storm.
  2. Oh, nevermind. It's only really slow when I'm connected through my work's VPN.
  3. Topics are slow to load (many seconds). Clicking on reply takes many seconds before I get the edit window. The main page also takes many seconds to load. THe rest of the web seems to be running at normal speeds, so I don't think it's my pipe.
  4. Has LAVA been really slow the last few days, or is it just me?
  5. I remember when I was a kid wondering something similar about Australia and the rest of the southern hemisphere. Here, "summer", "June, July, and August", and "hot weather" all go together. In the southern hemisphere, that's not the case. I remember wondering if Australians were cold in the "summer" and warm in the "winter".
  6. The 5+ that they're predicting for us on Tues night and Wednesday would be on top of about 8 inches last weekend, 6 inches last wednesday, and 25 inches this past weekend. Please tell me I don't have to move to Michigan to get away from the snow
  7. I'd like to cancel my subscription to winter please.
  8. I measured about 25" in our front yard. Lucky you with the snow removal. We rely on VDOT for our streets. I don't think we'll see a plow for a couple days at least.
  9. My backyard. My wife and I have shoveled the driveway 3 times since yesterday afternoon. We have one more shoveling to go, and I'm not sure where we'll put the snow.
  10. Ours didn't really start to stick until mid afternoon. Sticking pretty well now though.
  11. Here's what they're telling us to expect:
  12. It appears to me to be a homework assignment related to reshaping/reindexing array values. Values seem to run from 1 to n^2, and are arranged in a particular order such that they spiral outward.
  13. And that's what we've had the last few winters - basically one decent snow per year. I'm with you though - enough is enough. At least they plowed my neighborhood after yesterday's snow. Usually, they just wait for it to melt...
  14. Probably depends on your local library. Ours does have ebooks, but it's also a very big library system in a pretty wealthy and tech-savvy county. They also have e-audio books available for download. Not having a reader, I don't know the logistics of checkout, etc.
  15. I ended up getting a Samsung N150, on the recommendation of our local PC shop. In the process of uninstalling the bundled crap and installing the stuff I want. No time for an opinion yet, other than it looks pretty nice and feels solid.

    I think I'm in love...
  18. I saw this on Slashdot.
  19. My guess is that it's the reaction to the whole thing (i.e. "Climate Gate") that's thought of as an American thing. My feeling is that much of the rest of the Western world (other than us) think of climate change as a non-controversial fact.
  20. True, but he hasn't referred to the wavefront of a person yet.
  21. Add another selector (the thing you're using to decide whether to increment your pass counter) to each counter wire, and use the selectors with the reset button to determine whether to feed the wire contents or a '0' into the shift registers on the right side.
  22. Not sure if this answers your question, but could you use a listbox? It provides a property node that allows you to adjust the number of visible rows.
