JohnRH Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Am I missing something? Do I really need need the entire 311 MB NI Serial software just to install drivers for the NI USB-232 device? I know it comes with drivers on CD, but by the time I ever get around to using the hardware I've purchased, the drivers on CD are out of date! (perhaps I am just spoiled now that Windows 7 automatically finds and installs drivers for so many of the other devices we use) Quote
hooovahh Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Just be glad you don't have to update your DAQmx drivers (Device Drivers download) That's a 3.7GB download! But to be fair there might be a page for just DAQmx and not the whole driver suite. Quote
JohnRH Posted October 22, 2010 Author Report Posted October 22, 2010 In hind site, I could have grabbed the latest Device Driver DVD from the Developer Suite. (dooh!) Still... 311MB for a USB - Serial converter? Then about 20 minutes for installation time? Is it really necessary? Quote
asbo Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Yep, I don't think you're going to be able to find drivers just for that device. Maybe it's worth an e-mail to NI? But by the time you get a response, you could probably have just downloaded and installed the full package anyway Quote

You will be glad to know there is a VISA Run Time @ ~40MB which will keep your Application Installer down in size. Quote
