  1. As rule I tend to avoid express VIs, but I happened to click on a link in Christian's signature and found this. I haven't looked at it in detail, but this may be the one express vi I'm willing to use.

  2. Hi Mark I think this might have changed! After all NI sells Touch Panel Controllers with XPe on it (albeit re badged) - we use them for our applications I did inquire a while ago about running DSC from XPe which wasn't offically supported either but should have worked. However I just found this: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/5956 I am glad I went looking for this and found this out!

  3. I was able to report a post. I'm also the only non-premium member who's commented on this thread. Coincidence? Admin edit: this post was reported sucessfully by Phillip Brooks with the following text: "Test of reporting as a non-premium member."

  4. I think everyone's missing the point of the DVR. The biggest benefit of the DVR, IMO, is the ability to use the IPE (In Place Element) structure to read write data. Using the structure provides exclusive lock to the data access AND eliminates copies. Doing this with a SEQ (Single element queue) is a PITA and requires a whole bunch of lock and unlock code. On top of that you create extra data copies when you read the queue element. Data Value Reference Read / Write Element Border Node

  5. I looked at your example. My understanding of Object References is different. See Images. One issue to resolve with this method is dynamic dispatching. It seems that you can't do dynamic dispatching using Data Value reference terminals. Hopefully this will be added in a future LabVIEW release. In the meantime you will probably have to do dynamic dispatching inside the In Place Element Structure.
