  1. My (god|goodness|heavens)! You ARE TOO detail oriented! BTW, Thanks
  2. Since people were kind enough to help crelf with his homework, I thought I would ask for some help too... I'm working with the ATML specification XML schema for Test Results. There is a simpleType definition called StandardUnits that includes a regexp for qualifying a string. I cut and paste the regexp string into a LabVIEW VI and tried to use it, but got an error: There is an unmatched parenthesis in a regular expression. Can you help me find it, PLEASE?!!! The regexp does have a comment saying it hasn't been exhaustively tested see my attached image and vi. http://forums.lavag.org/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=5186 http://forums.lavag.org/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=5185 But SERIOUSLY, has anyone ever seen a regexp string like this?!!
  3. It's a lot better now There are "my" translation of the 2 files, it's not as easy as it seems to translate when you don't know exactly where the text is going to be displayed.. I hope I didn't make too much mistakes...
  4. QUOTE(REM1 @ Mar 8 2007, 03:11 PM) Accepted, and downloading....
  5. QUOTE(crelf @ Mar 9 2007, 09:17 AM) Sounds like the voice of experience to me Victim or originator? Its a few weeks early, but what the heck... http://forums.lavag.org/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=5159''>http://forums.lavag.org/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=5159'>http://forums.lavag.org/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=5159
  6. QUOTE(crelf @ Mar 9 2007, 01:46 PM) But you can't do that with the built-in ICON Editor, you always get an error message when you try to save a transparent ICON... ...and LabVIEW then paints for B&W an white ICON with a black border...
  7. QUOTE(brianafischer @ Mar 8 2007, 08:30 PM) I would reccommend starting with "A Software Engineering Approach to LabVIEW" by Conway and Watts. You can see the table of contents at http://safari.phptr.com/0130093653?tocview=true''>http://safari.phptr.com/0130093653?tocview=true' target="_blank">http://safari.phptr.com/0130093653?tocview=true The book is older, so it doesn't discuss LVOOP, TestStand etc..., but it DOES give you good techniques for writing modular, scalable, and maintainable code. The concepts and skills are still applicable to the latest version of LabVIEW. (The program example in the book is for a multi-UUT test platform!) Thank you Aristos Queue for recommending this book to me :worship: .
  8. QUOTE(Mikkel @ Mar 9 2007, 09:29 AM) I just googelt the result...
  9. QUOTE(Sherif @ Mar 8 2007, 04:38 PM) here is an example code... http://eurserveur.insa-lyon.fr/wwwEur/LesC...p8/preview.html http://eurserveur.insa-lyon.fr/wwwEur/LesC...8/download.html
  10. QUOTE(Eugen Graf @ Mar 8 2007, 07:39 PM) You just have to paint the Icon desired, white border will be transparent.... Copy the painted ICON to 16 colors and B&W... (just deleting the B&W Icon doesn't work) By using invoke nodes, you can even make a completely transparent (invisible) ICON of a vi. Then you see that vi only in the vi- hierarchie...
  11. QUOTE(spacetoon34 @ Mar 8 2007, 02:09 PM) If you have got an RT-System, then you have the micro seconds available for the timed loop...
  12. QUOTE(familyguy @ Mar 8 2007, 10:06 AM) Cross posted on NI and LAVA forums with the same question (cut and paste), and joined both forums TODAY with the same name. If you were a long time reader, you would know how to ask questions the right way. I label FamilyGuy as a
  13. QUOTE(TiT @ Mar 8 2007, 12:58 PM) I drove a Ferrari in our windtunnel, and you don't need that much time to learn... but you need a lot of time to earn...
  14. CITATION(Eugen Graf @ Mar 8 2007, 11:37 AM) I totally agree with you Eugen, I often meet C/C++ "veterans" who've been doing more or less the same kind of project as I do and they concider that developing with LabVIEW is not really working... They say I'm doing nice drawings but not doing real professional job. Maybe LabVIEW is just too accessible/time saving for them, I once challenged them to start from scratch a small app and see who gets it done first. In the end they argued that I was not "controlling things deeply as much as they do". They pretend to be driving the Ferrarri (C/C++) against a New Beetle (LabVIEW). For those (like me) who have never been behind Ferrarri (I mean a real one) steering wheel, I can tell you it requires a very long and specific training just to be able to move of 1 cm, and driving in town... don't think about it, it's a nightmare ! And it takes no more than 5 minutes for a normal driver to get use to a New Beetle.
  15. CITATION(Ben @ Mar 6 2007, 08:13 PM) The link given by NI Support doesn't solve the issue ( http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/websearch/6A771B1EBA7E670786256F49006F3693' target="_blank">http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/websearc...6256F49006F3693) When the write to DB function are activated, the amount of memory used by the application increases of 4 byte every time I write to the DB... I guess the next step to take is to follow Ben's advice and try the same with another DataBase, but that would take more time than I can afford. I'll see what I can do.
  16. CITATION(Michael_Aivaliotis @ Mar 8 2007, 07:27 AM) I don't know if you speak french or not, but I'd be happy to translate the texts for you if you don't
  17. I think the "throbber" is implimented as a boolean. If you want to have fun boolean controls, read this LAVA thread ; System-button-with-image
  18. Hi, On the botom left corner, we can set the languague for the LAVA interface, cool stuff even if I tend to think that localized interfaces are very often not as good as original version. When selecting "French" (yes I am a frog and yes I have green blood) some texts seems not to have any translation... See screenshots attached below, on the french version there are "small empty spaces" instead of "Arcade", "Links"... on the english version. It appears to be the same in the other languages (italian, polish...). Note that even if no text is shown, the links work, so I assume this is just a matter of filling the blanks in a localization file
  19. CITATION(tcplomp @ Mar 6 2007, 05:58 PM) This is surprising... I had an issue of that kind (same hardware configuration, but different transfert rate over the network). The system was composed of 6 PXI chassis (4 RT and 2 windows) plus an ethernet printer. We have 4 of these systems running in different factories ; 3 of them work without any problem and on 1, the network load is so heavy that some data are sent end never received. We spend a whole week trying to find out what was causing such a network load without success... Quite anoying ! When removing the printer, the system was working fine (I mean data sent between the PXIs were always received), When replacing the printer by another one resulted in data loss. Maybe a defect in an ethernet controler could slow down the entire network, no ?
  20. CITATION(lraynal @ Mar 6 2007, 03:57 PM) I have a limited experience regarding the internet tookit, and I faced the same problem a while ago... Just wire a "False" constant at "Active" input on the "put file VI", the time will drastically drop (from 4.5 sec to 200ms for a 2Ko file in my case) Hope this helps. PS : you might be inrerested by this link : http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=159984&query.id=40168#M159984' target="_blank">http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?boar...d=40168#M159984
  21. CITATION(Damien-FR @ Mar 6 2007, 04:05 PM) I'd say no... just have a look at the attachement (LV 8.20), I assume VIPM uses something similar, just a custom indicator BTW I prefer that one because it reminds me my mac
  22. CITATION(Mikkel @ Mar 6 2007, 09:31 AM) Indeed ! In fact, yesterday I saw that post : http://forums.lavag.org/How-to-create-templates-t6599.html''>http://forums.lavag.org/How-to-create-templates-t6599.html' target="_blank">http://forums.lavag.org/How-to-create-templates-t6599.html and then made a "template" for what you've described right above But if some geek can make an Xnode of this, that would be great !
  23. CITATION(Ben @ Mar 6 2007, 01:00 AM) @ Ben I wish I knew enough on DataBase to be able to do so CITATION(xtaldaz) That's why I recommended you use the ODBC driver temporarily to see if the driver has the leak; that's how I found/verified the leak originally. You shouldn't have to change your code other than to wire in a string DSN instead of the file path to the UDL in the Open Connection VI. @ xtaldaz I "tried to try" this but I am not the one who installed the database on the PC and I couldn't figure out how to build "DSN" string to input instead of the UDL I keep ont trying to get a good string... Also : Maybe the fact the PC runs WinXP pro with only 256MB of RAM doesn't really help, at the beginning of the project I told the customer that maybe 512MB wouldn't be too much, but check out the link he gave me : http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/eva...on/sysreqs.mspx Thanks Microsoft ! I would laugh alot from that joke if only it WAS a joke ! UPDATE : NI support pointed me this link : http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/websearc...6256F49006F3693 I installed the patch and re-ran the soft. In a couple of hours I'll be able to tell you if it solves the issue... stay in tune...
  24. Hi, All this remind me this thread on NI forum : http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?boar...message.id=7#M7 "For loop with a break" don't exist in LabVIEW... the subject has been discussed. Do we really need these knowing that we have a while loop ? I think Michael's post answers the question.
