QUOTE (Jim Kring @ Jun 26 2008, 07:31 PM) This year we've got Nancy and Crystal modelling the LAVA "G"-strings too... QUOTE (bjzimmer @ Jun 26 2008, 07:34 PM) One thing you might want to do, is add a separate pay link for paying for a couple, so you don't have to go through payment twice if you are bringing your significant other. I had considered that, but it makes the management of the accounts in PayPal pretty painful - sorry.

QUOTE (Jim Kring @ Jun 26 2008, 04:39 PM) My Ma did *exactly* the same thing! She'd come home from the thrift shop with a bag of clothes, and a couple of handfuls of lego - my brother and my first job was to wash it all with the hose in the backyard ...and when a local neighbourhood kid left home, it was a race (I'm completely serious) to their house to beg their parents for their old legos... Our suitcase had a mixture of lego and the no-brand version (the only difference was the absence of the "LEGO" text on each node... I remember that my uncle built an amazing grill (we always joked that if a hurricane came, the family would be safer in the BBQ than their house) and I remember him spending hours in our lounge room putting together his grand plan with legos...

2008 LAVA/OpenG NI-Week Bar-B-Q Beer, BBQ & good times - you're invited to share an evening of social fun with the good people from LAVA (LabVIEW Advanced Virtual Architects), OpenG (LabVIEW's open source community), as well as some selected NI R&D folks to chew the fat (literally & figuratively). All you can eat & drink smoked beef brisket, chicken, pork ribs, beans and salad bar, ice tea & fountain drinks, and we're holding it at Iron Works BBQ (right next to the convention centre). :!: Run, don't walk, to get your seat at the hottest and coolest event at NI-Week! -> REGISTER HERE <- If you're undecided ( are you kidding me?!?), check out some snaps from last year's LAVA/OpenG BBQs here. [cross posted - everywhere!]

QUOTE (Aristos Queue @ Jun 3 2008, 02:28 PM) I know I'm chiming in late on this, but we found the same issue here (we pass a bunch of data between asynchronos nodes), so we created a current value table that is based on a variant (the tags and their values are variant attributes, which are also varinats). A few hours later, we had a new reuse package that has polymorphic reads and writes so it becomes a virtual data bus. Then, even before reading this thread, we created a new version where that variant data is wrapped in a LVClass. The two methods work great  http://lavag.org/old_files/monthly_06_2008/post-181-1214489256.gif' target="_blank">

QUOTE (Jim Kring @ Jun 24 2008, 04:37 PM) That might be what you double-decaf-soy-latte-drinking shelias wear, but when it comes time to kick arse and chew gum (and I'm all outta gum), you can't go past Redback steel-toed boots - great on the motorcycle, comfortable in the office, safe in the workshop, and great for stomping on bugs - real man boots - oh YEAH! QUOTE (Jim Kring @ Jun 24 2008, 07:10 PM) BTW, are you coming to the LAVA/OpenG BBQ again this year, Nancy? Both Nancy and Crystal are contractully obligated to attend the LAVA/OpenG 2008 BBQ, as they are going to model their LAVA g-strings...

QUOTE (Eugen Graf @ Jun 24 2008, 06:58 PM) Then you'd need one of these to print your code documentation

Annoying NI sales calls after visiting ni.com
crelf replied to Michael Aivaliotis's topic in LAVA Lounge
QUOTE (Jim Kring @ Jun 21 2008, 04:50 PM) Right: it's all about perceived value - NI thinks that their call to you provides you with a opportunity that you'll value. Personally, I don't mind cold-calls, as long as the person behind them has done their research, which means a higher potential of their service offerings to be valuable to me. -
My IT Department's so awesome, they just announced a series of lunch 'n' learn sessions where they'll be covering some more advanced tool topics (advanced sharepoint, etc), and they actually asked the engineers what they would like to have covered. As a consequence, an advanced Subversion class isn't far away.

QUOTE (rolfk @ Jun 21 2008, 05:29 AM) I used to use that analogy when I was introducing EEs to LabVIEW until one day when one of them really got hung up on what the voltage (value) was on a wire before the dataflow got to it. I tried in vein to explain it to him, but he just never got past that.

QUOTE (Aristos Queue @ Jun 19 2008, 03:39 PM) I tried, but I couldn't find a picture of a man eating rabbits...

QUOTE (Shaiq Bashir @ Jun 19 2008, 05:14 PM) Search the help - you should be able to find something in there about termination characters.

OK - the issue has been resolved and, like tomatoes in the US, the LAVA NI-Week T-Shirt is back for sale in the LAVA Store. If you had already ordered a t-shirt, please have a look at this.

QUOTE (Yen @ Jun 19 2008, 02:44 PM) I think that means that the others are voting no on both of the questions

QUOTE (Shaiq Bashir @ Jun 19 2008, 01:38 PM) I haven't been called "sir" since I was in the military You can set the byte count to something higher than what you'd expect. The read will wait until it gets the number of bytes or the terminiation character, whichever comes first.

QUOTE (Shaiq Bashir @ Jun 19 2008, 12:32 PM) You could use the last value in the string as a termination character - is it always y?

QUOTE (Tom Bress @ Jun 18 2008, 10:42 AM) I really like Subversion and Tortoise/SVN, mostly because of the extension of the windows shell. That said, I'm a user - I have an IT department that takes care of all of the little issues with the package pair. I don't need to know (nor want to know) how they work, just as long as they do I suggest maybe getting your IT department involved (if you have one )

QUOTE (Anders Björk @ Jun 19 2008, 11:08 AM) That's right - the new t-shirt has been removed from the site until we can confirm that the http://forums.lavag.org/NI-Week-2008-LAVA-T-Shirt-Now-Available-t11178.html&view=findpost&p=47414' target="_blank">issue mentioned here is fixed - I'll update you as soon as it's available again.

QUOTE (Altomare @ Jun 19 2008, 08:11 AM) You can do that using .net controls, but you can also build your own pretty easily in LabVIEW. Have a look at xcontrols.
