  1. QUOTE (Jim Kring @ Jun 15 2008, 01:26 PM) I don't think your attachment worked - I can't see anything. QUOTE (Jim Kring @ Jun 15 2008, 01:26 PM) By the way, what is Spoolie's commission on sales? Ahhhhhhh - I see the misunderstanding. That's "Wirey" - he's in no way related to "SpoolieTM". Any resemblance to SpooliesTM, living or dead, is purely coincidental. PS: I'd be happy to take him down if you'd like... QUOTE (Jim Kring @ Jun 15 2008, 01:26 PM) You mean that these other styles may one day become rare LAVA collectors items? There are no other styles QUOTE (Yen @ Jun 15 2008, 01:27 PM) Actually, Model T Fords were initially sold in a number of colors, and I think none of them were black. I think the "black" quote came well before the Model T (there's were a number of models before the T, starting, funnily enough, with the Model A in 1903). Come to Detroit and I'll take you to the Rouge River Factory tour and to The Henry Ford museum - both great places to visit.
  2. QUOTE (Antoine @ Jun 15 2008, 12:10 PM) That's a shame Antoine - you'll have to take a photo of yourself in it and post it in this thread and/or in the comments section in the LAVAStore QUOTE (Justin Goeres @ Jun 15 2008, 12:11 PM) Any customer can have a LAVA t-shirt any colour that he wants so long as it is Basic Dark - Black. Hence the subsequent rise of GM
  3. QUOTE (Gabi1 @ Jun 15 2008, 10:51 AM) I agree that French sometimes sounds a little gutural eg: "du rien" - the "r" often sounds like it's way in the back of the thoat. I think Ben really meant "gutural" (throaty), not "guteral" (from the gutter)
  4. QUOTE (BobHamburger @ Jun 15 2008, 12:45 AM) There was a peaceful town called "Rockridge"... QUOTE (Michael_Aivaliotis @ Jun 15 2008, 04:45 AM) Oops! Did I just end the thread? You gotta love that guy! (errr, Brooks, not Hilter...) LAVA Trivia: The original "The Producers" film had a character in it called "Lorenzo St. DuBois" in it (LSD for short), who said "Achtung, Baby!", which inspired the U2 album of the same name.
  5. QUOTE (Michael_Aivaliotis @ Jun 15 2008, 12:43 AM) No worries - any time Thanks to everyone who entered a design in the competition, and also everyone who voted  QUOTE (Antoine @ Jun 15 2008, 04:59 AM) Thank you Chris and Justin :worship: You're welcome - in fact, the best way to thank us is to buy one QUOTE (Justin Goeres @ Jun 15 2008, 01:08 AM) ...you can customize your shirt on http://www.zazzle.com/lavastore/product/235258339504767821' rel='nofollow' target="_blank">the purchase page at Zazzle ! There are several different cuts & colors of shirt available... :!: DO NOT customize the t-shirt at check out - choose Basic Dark T-Shirt - Black only. There is a bug in the zazzle software that stopped me from locking the design down - I have their technical support people working on it. One of the reasons we have the t-shirt is to demonstrate a united force at NI-Week, and if everyone shows up wearing different t-shirts, then that perception is much less effective. Those wearing non-black t-shirts will not be admitted to the LAVA BBQ.
  6. QUOTE (EdDeWitt @ Jun 14 2008, 08:37 PM) We're only planning on offering LAVA merchandise through the LAVA Store website. We can help you place an order at NI-Week, but your purchases will be shipped to you directly from the LAVA Store website. The site accepts Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.

  9. QUOTE (BrokenArrow @ Jun 13 2008, 09:24 PM) and so he should! He's http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000316/' rel='nofollow' target="_blank">one of the greatest comedians of all time! PS: I've had the same avatar for a long time, but I changed it to a muppet a year or so ago, and had to change it back due to the community backlash

QUOTE (FLAnatic @ Jun 13 2008, 10:42 AM) I don't think you are - I appreciate you saying this. Theories work best when they're repeatedly reviewed for continued relevance and refined if appropriate. Take the old model of the atom (show below). It's not physically correct, but it's good enough for a particular level physical applications. I remember my first day of Chem 101 in my physics degree - the lecturer walked in an asked us all to draw a sodium atom. We did (the old concentric ring model), and he drew the same on the board. He said "most of you probably drew this - it's wrong, but at least it got you this far." I agree that "wrong" was probably not the right word to use - maybe "inappropriate for this physical application" would have been better. http://lavag.org/old_files/monthly_06_2008/post-181-1213369532.jpg' target="_blank">

  17. QUOTE (bjsprem @ Jun 12 2008, 02:44 AM) Do they *have* to be from India?
  18. Hi All, I've created this thread as a quick method of letting everyone else know when you're travelling to facilitate ad-hoc get-togethers. Feel free to add your own location status here. For example: I'll be in San Celemnte, California for the next couple of days (at least) - anyone in the local area that's up for a feed and a few beers? cheers, crelf
  19. QUOTE (James N @ Jun 11 2008, 09:26 AM) :ninja: It sounds like you already know the answer...
  20. QUOTE (Antoine @ Jun 11 2008, 02:21 AM) I think that's an excellent idea.
  21. QUOTE (jdunham @ Jun 10 2008, 04:48 PM) Bugger - I'd thought up some good points to add to this thread while I was on the plane, but now I log on, they've already been said QUOTE (jdunham @ Jun 9 2008, 07:44 PM) I don't think that's a useful definition of optimiZation (c'mon, crelf, you live in North America now ). Just quietly, between you and me, I could never remember which one to use in Oz either - I always just let the spellchecker figure it out
  22. QUOTE (Justin Goeres @ Jun 10 2008, 07:06 PM) Sounds like a job for an http://wiki.lavag.org/XControl' rel='nofollow' target="_blank">xcontrol. (yes, there's a flood of posts from me in the last few minutes - I just got off a plane after an 11 hour trip and I need my LAVA fix.)
