  1. I'm really glad you joined us Herbert - your posts are insightful and well presented
  2. It's not weird, I just didn't know about your call-to-arms on the NI Discussion Forums (I don't subscribe to Breakpoint ). Would you be interested in hosting it here instead of the NI board? The LAVA Blog is very easy to use, and you can write your nuggets whenever you like, and then come back an publish them on a weekly basis. Personally, I don't mind where they are, as long as they gets going again somewhere...
  3. That is a true shame - I always enjoyed Darren's nuggets. Since it's OT, I've started a new thread to see if we can collectively get the nuggets up and running again.
  4. Darren's not releasing his fantastic and highly-regarded weekly nuggets anymore Darren: your nuggets were an important part of our community, and I thank you for the time and effort you put into them. Thankfully, with every disappointment in life comes opportunity - here's your chance to make a difference! Why not host a blog here at LAVA and put together a weekly nugget? It doesn't need to be too technical, nor does it need to be long - just a paragraph on a neat LabVIEW trick, feature, etc with an image or two, and you've got instant LabVIEW fame! You don't even need to come up with the nugget every week - you can get together a bunch of other LAVA members, and all contribute together! It couldn't be easier - a bunch of talented LabVIEW enthusiasts throwing in a nugget every couple of months, and it's done! We can advertise it here on LAVA, and even ask the kind NI people to put it on their NI Discussion Forum in the LabVIEW zone - you'll have billions* of engineers subscribing to the RSS feed in no time! * billions of engineers may not actually subscribe to the RSS feed in no time: It might actually take a little while for it to reach the billions mark...
  5. It's like that for (almost) any data type these days - especially useful for complex data types like clusters of clusters of clusters of clusters of clusters of clusters of clusters of clusters of ...
  6. Are you Skypecasting now (it's just gone past 12CST)? If so, what's the link?
  7. I wouldn't be so hard on yourself there John - you're certainly throwing around advanced terms like a pro!

    Hallo LAVA

Welcome - have a look around: we've got a Code Repository, Knowledge Base, LabVIEW FAQ, Forums - and more! I'm looking forward to your submissions (in fact, you've already made a few good ones - that's a great start!)
  9. You could get the graph indicator's front panel image, resize it and then write it into an off-screen picture indicator, and then use the image of the picture indicator in your report...

    Intro...

Hi JStoddard, and welcome! Have a look around - we've got a code repository, knowledge base, FAQ, Blogs, and (of course) an awesome forum - make yourself at home
  11. That could work, but turning off optimisation to ignore one optimisation will then turn off all the optimisations - I don't know that's a good idea...
  12. I've got to agree with Stephen on this one - including different switches for optimisations is waaaay too much work, and for little gain across the board. Where does it end? Do you want to be able to toggle optimisation at the top leve? The VI level? What about individual optimisations for each VI? IMHO, if you don't want the "instability" of a new version of LabVIEW, then stick with one that you're happy with. Optimisation between versions is at more than just compiler-level - if 8 or above doesn't do it for you, then stick with 7...
  13. RTFM - there are plenty of examples in the LabVIEW help - always try there first.
  14. I recommend "Introduction to Quantum Mechanics" - I couldn't put it down.
  15. I thought there might be a key stroke (hold down something when you double click), but I think you're out of luck:
  16. there is no spoon...
  17. Excellent - thanks for the update!
  18. Thanks Jim - what's the name of the third party tool? I don't know that I agree with that entirely - I agree that it could happen, but I think that if it did, it would be more a representation of the corporate culture than the availability of reporting tools.
  19. Thanks Jim - I'm actually really excited about it, as SVN (and OpenG) are paving the way for widespread acceptance of open source.
  20. I'm glad to hear that others have the same cynical disposition to statistical "science" as I do  Statistical studies have their place, but as they need to be so tightly defined and be accompanied by supportive set analyses, they're often not even indicative...
  21. Hi All, I'm assessing issue tracking utilities, and I thought "who better to get input from than my beloved LAVA members?" I'm looking for a feature-rich issue tracker with the following essential requirements: Multi-user Multi-project Web based Open source Good performance across distant networks Inuative interface Comprehensive reporting functions Desired attributes include: Integration with Subversion Know any? Got any experiences you'd like to share?
  22. I agree - and as Jim says, that's not important anyway, as TortoiseSVN has my all-time favorite feature: Windows shell integration - intuativeness personified! I'm also very proud to say that VI Engineering has now switched across-the-board from Visual Source Safe to Subversion (with TotoiseSVN) and we love it!
