Edit. If you use Windows 32-bit, this set up should work over an MXI-4 connection. However if you use Windows 64-bit (although not officially supported) The card should work with an MXI Express chassis. This is due to the limited addressable range of a 32 bit operating system with an MXI-Express link.

Only Windows 32-bit is supported as per the getting started manual. http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/372082c.pdf MXI-4 links are unsupported by the 8231 Ethernet card so an MXI-Express link should be used instead. This should work fine if you use an MXI-Express link instead of MXI-4.
