Howdy: Have you read the LabView Development Guidelines document under Help in LV?
-
pallen: You mentioned that you were switching to USB to save $$. Be careful, I have looked at the specs of the 6008/6009 and I am not too impressed with the analog inputs, they have an input impedance of only a few hundred kohm. Some people have ran into problems saying their measurments were innaccurate- it turns out that the analog inputs were loading down their circuitry. No counter/timer support and software timed analog output too on the 09, I believe. You may want to look over the specs of the USB devices before commiting to them. Granted I have never used one, but have heard other people issues and some have had to go back to traditional cards (PCI, PCMCIA)

I do know NI just released a patch for 7.1.1 to run 2.0 According to my 8.0 documentation, it looks as if 8 is still using 1.1 with SP1. Yes, Brain Tyler is the NI man for .NET. :worship:

What is the make and model of the DMM? There may be drivers already available for it.

Have you tested your 7404 inverter chip? I see the connection diagram on the front panel of the example does not show power being supplied to the 7404. So if you made all connections like it shows, you would still be missing two. Connect +5VDC to pin 14 (Vcc) on the 7404 and Ground to pin 7 (Gnd) on the 7404. You can get 5V and Gnd right off of the DAQ card. Hope this helps and if you already have 5V and Gnd going to the 7404 then I do not know what else could be awry :headbang:

Why not use the deminate function in LV to reduce number of points graphed?

How do you poll device for commands (Wavetek Model 81)
AnalogKid2DigitalMan replied to EricWijen's topic in Hardware
You could try the HP 8116A driver, or so I read somewhere, here is link for the HP driver: http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/niid_web_displa...rv_type=&p_int= You could also try www.manualsplus.com -
And it looks like they took some of our concerns and feedback seriously in regards to licensing: Up to 3 PC's at work and 1 home install http://www.ni.com/license/licensing_options.htm

How Can I burn CD in LabVIEW?
AnalogKid2DigitalMan replied to skywalkerxp's topic in Calling External Code
Came across this submitted vi, but did not open or look into further. This code is by Dan Andersen http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/niepd_web_displ...rank=&p_answer= -
How NOT to code large applications
AnalogKid2DigitalMan replied to JackHamilton's topic in Application Design & Architecture
It's kinda hypnotic, sort of when you look at a refection between two almost parallel mirrors. -
How to make PCI-6534 read a voltage of 200mV
AnalogKid2DigitalMan replied to ayumisano's topic in Hardware
You could wire up a comparator chip to output TTL logic levels based on a 200mV threshold. -

I curretnly have no hardware in my PC to check, but if I remember correctly, what happens if you right click on the device listed in max- do you get an option to reset it to traditional? Only did this once, and it was a long time ago, but I do know that the option is there somewhere within MAX.
-
Within MAX, you may have to reset you hardware to 'traditional DAQ' mode first, it may be set up in DAQmx mode currently.

Do you have the latest drivers for your video card installed?

Would it be easier for the user to use Excel directly without a LabView front end?

Take the insanity test. I am insane which I have known for a long time now. http://www.tekzoned.com/instest/

Control and Simulation Software for G

Have you tried activating context help by cntl+H and then moving the cursor over them? -
The site got hacked and Micheal lost May 1-13th postings, I believe.

Ducc: You may want to read the pdf document "Using External Code in LabView" under Help in the bookshelf. If has all the details about calling DLL's.

Once you save a vi in 7.1, there will be no way to open or run it in 5.1. So back up all 5.1 code onto CD for archival purposes. Unless you want to save as 7.0 in 7.1, then save as 6 in 7.0, then save as 5 in 6 (if possible).

One issue for serial and GPIB communications is that the current version of LabView uses VISA commands. Have you looked at hardware issues, for example ISA expansion cards. It is hard to find 'current' PC's with an ISA bus. And a related note- DAQ driver software; current versions of DAQmx do not support some legacy DAQ cards. Just some ideas that came to mind you may want to look into more about at NI's site.
