  1. Some fakes are closer than you think http://forums.lavag.org/index.php?showtopic=2985
  2. Odd, I activated 8.0 on a machine yesterday, it gave activation codes for LV PDS 8.0 AND LV PDS 8.1. The codes are different too.
  3. Ben: I always pictured you as a bear, must have something to do with your avatar Bunsen, hey that's a character I can relate to. Gotta love those rapid exothermic reations
  4. Don't worry Pete, I'm right there next to you Another Fozzie (and Pete)
  5. Alpha, your'e back! How are the book sales coming along, are they supplementing the lowly unemployment benefits from the evil government? Must be hard living in Canada with all those secret police lurking about. :ninja: Sis find a job yet? Hows Rocky doing, does he get along well with your cat? Bet all those people who saw you on DDTV were just too ignorant to understand anything you said. Guess I am just one of theose lowly mental prostitutes who is also able to see the past too. Sorry MA, I had a momentary lapse of reason here and some spare time to conjur, please feel free to nuke my rant.
  6. You will need to save the data to disk to retain it's value after exiting the program or shutting down the PC. Upon program start, it can open the file, extract the value and use it to add to the new value. Read to Spreadsheet File, Write to Spreadsheet File come to mind. You could also write and read value into 'keys' using the Write and Read Key. Search in Find Examples for Spreadsheet and Configuration to get you started.
  7. Point well taken, perhaps there could be an effect
  8. I do not foresee compression affecting program performance, since the vi's are loaded into memory off of disk prior to execution.
  9. Off topic, but Ben- just one more post to go. Sorry, no stars
  10. If I understand correctly, how about an array or cluster of LED controls? 1 = ON = Illuminated, 0 = OFF = dark? Or are you looking for text entry? Could use a string control and then parse it into bits.
  11. No, it's just not you. I have also seen requests for control of individual signals on serial ports too, lately.
  12. Starting with DAQ 7.5, simulated hardware devices can be configured in MAX so that you can proceed with software development wihtout a card. You may want to look into this.
  13. m3nth: You 'mean' this thread? http://forums.lavausergroup.org/index.php?showtopic=2282
  14. And all the buildings in Austin seem to have their thermostats set at 60 degrees from what I recall while attending NI training there
  15. Heck, my son could write the LV code for my work projects while I program his Legos
  16. I think they get their power from individual 12V brick supplies, not the main PC supply. One of the pictures show the supplies under the table.
  17. Jon is Jon Prevost, the OP. He answered his own query. Pete figured it out
  18. Brian Tyler from NI has confirmed that LV8.0 supports .NET 2.0 framework. i2dx: I would think it is a safe bet that the target PC would also need the framework installed on it.
  19. What resistance range and what accuracy are important items to consider. NI makes some DMM cards with resistance measurement that plug right into the computers PCI bus which would have zero footprint in size, see: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/conceptd.nsf/we...t&node=12675_US And in terms of DMM's with existing drivers, if you have a meter picked out, look for drivers here: http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/niid_web_display.drv_search
  20. Full install of LV8 PDS on a new PC (no previous LV versions on it) went very smooth and so did the activation. But you can tell some of the add-on toolkits (SPC, etc) are very dated in the way they install.
  21. There are a lot of broken links on their site, I could not get to the Serial Communication White Papers. Have you tried Hyperterminal first? Proper serial cabling? Correct termination character used in LV?
  22. didierj: The internet archive wayback machine may come to part of your rescue, try some of these cached pages (did not see any for 2005 though )\ http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.ltrpub.com
  23. I think MIDI would be the way to go too, that's what hit me when I first saw it. Gives the most flexibity. Granted, you could do the whole thing with a PIC or a plain old PLC. Just fire outputs with the appropriate length and delay. But that could get tedious, I'd much rather be outside throwing snowballs at cars On a related note regarding "Virtual Instruments", check out animusic.com. These guys designed virtual music instruments that respond to midi commands. They then compose the music to animate the instruments. This is the opposite of what many people think (the masses just think they made a computer graphic video that goes to the music).
