This would be ice that is covering a hard surface and it would be several inches thick. Accuracy down to a mm is required? Link to comment

Do you need a gadget to attach to a Zamboni (Impressive instrument for resurfacing skating rinks) to draw a map of surface irregularities, with the assumption that the underlying surface is flat.
