Lullaayee
Hello Guys, This is my first post. I recently purchased USB6009. I want to measure the temerature.(Say Range starts from 0 degree C to 150 degree C). I need sensors for that (thermocouple/RTD..etc). Also i came to know sensors need signal conditioning too... (converting physical science to electrical signal which DAQ can understand.. with reduced noise). Let me come to the point. i want to purchase the sensor.(preferably Thermocouple).(0 degree C to 150 degree C range..). which sensor is the best available in the market? please explain about the signal conditioning. Note: I'm in india. I feel easy to purchase online. any site you know who sells signal conditioning stiuff please let me know.. step by step instruction tutorial will be best for me. any link provided here will be very much appreciable. thanks for reading. eagerly waiting for the replies. sincerely, Lullaayee Quote Link to comment
Roderic
Hello, For that kind of measurements, you can purchase a thermocouple type k. Low price will do fine. For signal conditioning, a wheastone bridge is the most common type. Reguards, Rodéric Quote Link to comment
hooovahh
You may have purchased the USB 6009 for reasons other than just a temperature measurement, but if all you wanted was one temperature reading then NI sells a nice little USB device that is setup for just that and is $130. http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/208177 I this would handle the requested range as it is a K type thermocouple. ASTDan
I like Omega.com for purchasing thermocouple and thermocouple accessories. Thermocouples are the most popular sensor for temperature because of their low cost and they don't need power. They are however non-linear so you need some signal conditioning to amplify, filter, linearize, and provide cold junction compensation. Here are some tutorials on the subject http://www.omega.com/thermocouples.html http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/7136 Hello Guys, This is my first post. I recently purchased USB6009. martin_g
Hi, Analog Devices produce a signal conditioning amp for J & K type thermocouples - AD594 I think. You give a DC supply voltage and get a linear voltage out, it also does cold junction compensation, and costs about $10. Used them lots of times with basic USB Daq cards, they are great.
