Alternative to compactRIO

Hello community,

I get in touch with you about an alternative to compactRIO.

In fact, I develop a program which permite to control loads with relay.

I use a modbuss controler with Input/Ouput and I want to add an inteligence near to this controler like a compactRIO.

The issue is the compactRIo is more powerfull for my application: I don't need the fpga, I just want to communicate in Modbus.

So, do you know alternative please ?

You could probably get away with a simple Arduino or Raspberry Pi or even an office level PC.

Check out the UDOO embedded PC's.  They run Windows or Linux, and the new model has  Ryzen CPU.   You should be able to run LabVIEW runtime on these (although I have not tried it on this device, I have run LV runtime on Atom quad core before)

Most normal computers, can be turned into an embedded LabVIEW RT target.  NI has a process outlined that installs a new OS, which can be a target for a LabVIEW project and can be deployed to.  There are several limitations but what this means is any PC can be running head-less RT code that gets deployed to it and ran on startup.
