1. Name: Swap Terminals RCF Plugin 1.0.2-8 Submitter: gb119 Submitted: 04 Mar 2010 File Updated: 23 Aug 2010 Category: JKI Right-Click Framework Plugins Version: 1.0.2 LabVIEW Version: 8.6 License Type: BSD (Most common) Swap Termianls RCF Plugin - 1.0.1-7 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Copyright © 2010, Gavin Burnell All rights reserved. Author: Gavin Burnell G.Burnell@leeds.ac.uk"]G.Burnell@leeds.ac.uk"]G.Burnell@leeds.ac.uk"]G.Burnell@leeds.ac.uk Distribution: This code was downloaded from the LAVA Code Repository: http://lavag.org/ind...p?app=downloads Description: This is a plugin for the JKI Right Click Framework (version 1.0.2). Ever inserted a primitive like add, subtract, greater than, or less than into a wire and manage to get LabVIEW to wire up the 'wrong' input because you right clicked one pixel the wrong side of the wire ? Ever looked at code and realised that you've got the input terminals hooked up the wrong way round on a select ? Then this plugin is for you, simply select the block diagram primitive, activate the JKI RCF plugins and select 'Swap Terminals'. This plugin will work on any primitve function or 'growable' function that has two and only two inputs and also on the 'Select' and 'In Range and Co-erce' nodes to swap the top and bottom inputs over and rewire the wires. In version 1.1 it will also handle 'Bundle' and 'Bundle by Name' which have two input elements and a special case of two wires that are wired into different terminals of the same node. Dependancies: JKI Tools Right Click Framework >=1.0.2 Support: If you have any problems with this code or want to suggest features: Change Log: 1.0.2-8 Corrected a regression in previous version with bundle/bundle by name nodes. 1.0.1-7 Rereleased as a VIPM Package File built using VIPM 2010. Should have correct package dependencies for RCF Packages 1.0.1.1 Added growable functions with special cases for bundlers and two-wires-to-the-same-node. Refactored the code to kake extending it for other GObject types easier in the future. 1.0.0.1 Initial release on LavaG License: Copyright © 2010 Gavin Burnell All rights reserved. 2. Yes, an Explorer with Tabs and a dual pane mode would actually be useful. I abhor the Windows Explorer. I use Total Commander instead.

 3. Not only that but how can anyone learn anything from this forum if they don't have the latest version of LabVIEW? I come here to learn and get example code. The Latest LabVIEW is needed to learn new stuff here.

 4. I don't think there's much extra work implementing in VISA than raw GPIB, so I'd go for VISA. That's said, it's been a while since I've used raw GPIB. Also, there are a handful of oddities with each physical layer, so your application *might* require you to use GPIB only, but those oddities are very very rare, and VISA does have GPIB-specific properties, so you should be good.

 5. VISA is the recommend solution because it is the current technology and it is the supported method for communications. GPIB is the older technology and while supported it is not actively being worked on (new features). Also, you never know when you will need to use some other communications interface. At the moment you may only need GPIB but if this application lives on it may need to use other interfaces in the future. (Think you equipment dies and the only option is to replace it with something that doesn't have GPIB. Most new equipment use USB or Ethernet these days.)

 6. I've managed to find some time to create a small example video about creating customized controls on the fly. It's not complete in the sense that I don't show how to create your own backgrounds for customized buttons, but rather show how to use this add-on to create controls on the fly and add them to your front panels. When I find more time, I'll make new videos on customizing your button styles and also how it can be made to add these controls directly in your user.lib control palette. In the video, I generate an error message. You'll see that it has something to do with the fact that my project was not saved. This is an unhandled error state that I'll deal with in a future version. You can download the Nuvola icon theme shown in this presentation here. <object id="scPlayer" width="1015" height="682"> <param name="movie" value="http://content.screencast.com/users/normandinf/folders/Jing/media/9066199a-c28a-44b9-a679-864d0366254d/jingswfplayer.swf"></param>'>http://content.screencast.com/users/normandinf/folders/Jing/media/9066199a-c28a-44b9-a679-864d0366254d/jingswfplayer.swf"></param> <param name="quality" value="high"></param> <param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF"></param> <param name="flashVars" value="thumb=http://content.screencast.com/users/normandinf/folders/Jing/media/9066199a-c28a-44b9-a679-864d0366254d/FirstFrame.jpg&containerwidth=1015&containerheight=682&content=http://content.screencast.com/users/normandinf/folders/Jing/media/9066199a-c28a-44b9-a679-864d0366254d/CustomControlsOnTheFly.swf"></param> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param> <param name="scale" value="showall"></param> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param> <param name="base" value="http://content.screencast.com/users/normandinf/folders/Jing/media/9066199a-c28a-44b9-a679-864d0366254d/"></param>'>http://content.screencast.com/users/normandinf/folders/Jing/media/9066199a-c28a-44b9-a679-864d0366254d/"></param> <embed src="http://content.screencast.com/users/normandinf/folders/Jing/media/9066199a-c28a-44b9-a679-864d0366254d/jingswfplayer.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" width="1015" height="682" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowScriptAccess="always" flashVars="thumb=http://content.screencast.com/users/normandinf/folders/Jing/media/9066199a-c28a-44b9-a679-864d0366254d/FirstFrame.jpg&containerwidth=1015&containerheight=682&content=http://content.screencast.com/users/normandinf/folders/Jing/media/9066199a-c28a-44b9-a679-864d0366254d/CustomControlsOnTheFly.swf" allowFullScreen="true" base="http://content.screencast.com/users/normandinf/folders/Jing/media/9066199a-c28a-44b9-a679-864d0366254d/" scale="showall"></embed> </object> Edit: Sorry if sound isn't great. I think it's my microphone that is giving me some problems.
