  1. A unique identifier of your reusable VI is its name (including lvlib prefix, if applicable). For example, you can't (or shouldn't) have two different VIs installed in your user.lib folder that have the same name. So, creating an additional tracking ID is redundant.

Also, if you have needs in this area, you might want to mention them to the VIPM team. I hear they have a great system for helping manage reusable VIs and this might be just the type of thing that's on their radar. ;)

In the end for this doesn't Windows still win. Everyone that purchases one of these to run both Mac and Win OS still gets to sent a check to Microsoft for its OS and MSOffice.

Microsoft does get paid, but they don't win. Switching to Mac is one more step towards completely breaking away from Windows and the tradition of corporate desktop software that's released every 4 years (if you're lucky) and adds only more system instability issues.

Well, if it's Shopping Channel Blooper Time, then I've always been a big fan of Ladder Mishaps.

    Favorite:

    2nd Favorite:

That just goes to prove you can get to heaven using a ladder -- especially a very tall one.

Good point  . The only thing I've used the FP transparency for is to write a subVI that fades a window in or out over a defined time interval. I assume we've all done that. Has anyone used it for anything else? I guess I could maybe see using it to make a window throb when it wants attention, or recede to semi-transparent when it's not frontmost....

I think your point extends to nipples in general, does it not?

    > Has anyone used it for anything else?

I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you... or find some other way to keep you quiet ;)

    > I think your point extends to nipples in general, does it not?

"... throb... wants attention... frontmost... point... extends... nipples..."

    Is something on your mind?

  5. When I was little we had a plastic bucket full of legos. My mom would go to thrift stores (we didn't have much money) and buy used legos and add them to the bucket.

I was too young to remember this, but my mother likes to tell a story of a friend of mine coming over to play legos and asking where the directions where. I said to him "legos have directions?" :)

To this day, I'm not much of a "read the manual" kind of person.

I have many happy memories of my bucket of legos and the unique things I would create.

This will be my first NI Week. Any recommendations on local hotels? I saw the list on the NI website, but I've never been to Austin before. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

    Here's my list:

    • The Hilton is great because it is across the street and is pretty nice (pool, etc.) -- This is where a lot of the LAVA'ers (including me) are staying.
    • The Omni has the best service for the price -- the rooms aren't as big, since it's an older hotel. I saw Quentin Tarantino staying there, last year, when he was filming 66th Grand Prix of Monaco
    • The Driskill is more expensive (although not ridiculous) and has the best service and a cool vibe (piano bar, hide-covered couches, etc).
    • The Courtyard Austin Downtown-Convention Center is also very close.

"team meeting" with "flip flops" - my kinda place! But, grey sneakers are only cool when worn with black socks & khaki shorts

I don't think that my wife would let me leave the house wearing shorts with black socks (I've tried similar things and it set off the security system).

BTW, are you coming to the LAVA/OpenG BBQ again this year, Nancy?

Wikipedia says http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Jobs#Personal_life' rel='nofollow' target="_blank">those are New Balance 992s. So while you may be cooler than you thought you were, you must always remember that Steve Jobs is still slightly cooler than you. :P

No, wikipedia says he wears New Balance 992s -- I'm pretty sure that those in the picture are 991s. I just looked and the (newer) blue pair that I have are 992s. :P:P

confession... my wife picks out my shoes

It's been annoying me, too. I usually paste my path into there, as I have a Copy Path to Clipboard File Explorer shell extension and I usually paste into the path field. Now it takes me an extra mouse click and really breaks my workflow.

On a related note, I wish I could drag and drop files into Firefox path inputs, like I can do with path controls in LabVIEW...

Update: I just found this cool extension:
