QUOTE (shoneill @ May 22 2008, 04:10 AM) I always thought that the segregation was more to do with the personified heads of those churches (the head of the catholic faith being the pope, and the head of the church of England being the reigning monarch - currently Queen Elizabeth II), so it was more to do with the Irish not wanting their religion being controlled who was thought to be their governmental oppresser, as opposed to actual religious standards in the religion. Of course, since the schism, these doctrines of the religions have become different in quite a number of areas. That said, I'm pretty ignorant on the topic.
  3. QUOTE (rolfk @ May 22 2008, 05:11 AM) So it's wings have been clipped to work with only one key to assign licenses? That's a shame.
  4. QUOTE (Justin Goeres @ May 21 2008, 09:12 PM) Oh YEAH! We should all wear that one
  5. QUOTE (Michael_Aivaliotis @ May 21 2008, 01:55 PM) Even if we can't upload our own avatar, I'd like to see a LAVA avatar there at least...
  6. QUOTE (MikaelH @ May 20 2008, 06:04 PM) Great point Mike - you can get all sorts of web-based media using this technique - http://forums.lavag.org/Downloading-an-image-from-a-Web-server-using-Datascoket-t100.html' target="_blank">see here from more info.

  9. QUOTE (Jim Kring @ May 20 2008, 04:26 PM) Oh, I do too, but wouldn't it be sweet?
  10. QUOTE (Yen @ May 20 2008, 02:31 PM) Oh, I see, you're hoping to use existing architecture - gotcha. QUOTE (Yen @ May 20 2008, 02:31 PM) It doesn't have to be the ~$10-20 you pay for USB webcams, but I wouldn't expect a $500 price tag for each camera either I don't think you'll get anything other than USB for that price - Firewire cams generall start at $US1k each.
  11. QUOTE (Jim Kring @ May 20 2008, 01:55 PM) I wonder how difficult (possible) it would be to include products in the NI License Manager. I know that some of the products we distribute are LabVIEW addons, so we could assume that the NI License Manager is installed, but I wonder if it even supports products external to NI...
  12. QUOTE (Yen @ May 20 2008, 01:26 PM) Why? QUOTE (Yen @ May 20 2008, 01:26 PM) Does anyone have experience\suggestions for connecting to multiple cheap cameras and getting the images at reasonably real time? It depends on what "cheap" means - what you need to keep in mind is the appropriateness of your lighting, quality of the sensor (CCD) and the optics that you put in front of it. I'd suggest you check out FireWire cameras - they're relatively inexpensive, and through the magic of a firewire hub, you can have a whole bunch of the online simultaneously (bandwidth dependant, of course ) I usually use camera from AVT - if you need several of them, they'll give you a good volumne discount.
  13. QUOTE (Bryan @ May 20 2008, 07:47 AM) Congrats on becoming legit mate - well done!
  14. QUOTE (Aristos Queue @ May 20 2008, 11:49 AM) Right - LabVIEW can also connect to exposed (and registered) ActiveX and .net methods & properties (if you're working on the Windows platform).
  15. QUOTE (jasonw @ May 20 2008, 11:23 AM) No worries.
  16. QUOTE (jasonw @ May 20 2008, 08:47 AM) It's http://thinkinging.com/2007/04/12/creating-a-local-subversion-repository-with-tortoisesvn/' rel='nofollow' target="_blank">over here in Jim's blog.
  17. QUOTE (MicrochipHo @ May 19 2008, 05:27 PM) Right click on the property node and select "Change All To Write".
  18. QUOTE (BrokenArrow @ May 19 2008, 04:33 PM) Yeah, me too - I'd like to see this at least defined by NI somewhere.
  19. QUOTE (BrokenArrow @ May 19 2008, 01:09 PM) Actually, it's a standard that exists outside of LabVIEW - try it by double-clicking on a word in a sentance in word or the like.
  20. QUOTE (BobHamburger @ May 19 2008, 01:43 PM) *shudder*
  21. QUOTE (Justin Goeres @ May 19 2008, 02:45 PM) Pfffffft! Here's some reasons not to code on a plane: Unless your laptop is actually a PDA, how are you going to get the workspace to use a mouse for graphical programming? (unless you use one of those ultra-mini trackballs - that *might* work) Unless you fly weekly, I find flying a relaxing break where I can recline and enjoy a club soda and the latest NWA inflight magazine If you do take a mouse on a plane, it'll just feed all of those snakes Flying is a great time to catch up on those tasks you're always interupted trying to do - like clearing out your email inbox

QUOTE (Jim Kring @ May 19 2008, 02:04 PM) Nice work Jim - throw a log on the fire and then just walk away
  23. QUOTE (Justin Goeres @ May 19 2008, 10:25 AM) Oh, that's real pretty.
  24. QUOTE (Giseli Ramos @ May 19 2008, 09:17 AM) Just because a refun exists, doesn't mean that the data associated with that refnum is valid. "refnum" is quite literally "reference number" - it's a reference to the software component instance that you're using, so in this case, it's the software layer of the TCP/IP engine - it has nothing to do with the actual connection. The connection uses the refnum, but the refnum does not use the connection. I'm pretty sure I didn't explain that well - anyone else care to clarify my muddy thoughts?

QUOTE (shoneill @ May 19 2008, 09:08 AM) I took it as such IMHO, non-mystical Buddhism isn't a religion (well, I'm not sure about the official definitions of what consitutes a religion). It's more the doing-good-things-irrespective-of-it-paying-off-for-you-in-the-future. There's no God, no supernatural ethereal being, nothing about creation, nothing about life after death, no heavan or hell, just living in the present with (as you pointed out) tolerance for everyone. Actually, it's more than tolerance (tolerance suggests that you only tolerate someone or something) - dharmarists actually embrace others, rather than simply tolerate them. QUOTE (shoneill @ May 19 2008, 09:08 AM) As to the difference between faith and belief, I'm not sure myself, but I certainly refuse to accept any unproven supernatural being as "Truth". Awww great! Instead of clarifying "faith" and "belief", you bloody added "truth" in there as well
