  1. What emotions do you feel when you watch it? Original Link.
  2. The part where I actually laughed was at the end where he brought up a slide of complex formulas in response to an audience question. That was the punchline for me.
  3. In my opinion the code has to be clean and self explanatory. It's not enough that it works or that it has a great design. If it takes me just as long to refactor code as it takes to understand it then I always opt for a refactoring. At the end of the day, I will have become an expert in your code after the refactor, plus it will be easier to understand for then next person.
  4. Is that site like the anti-wikipedia or something?
  5. QUOTE (Aristos Queue @ Jul 8 2008, 07:43 PM) I can't post the actual VI hierarchy that I'm seeing this in, but I will try to extract some code to see if I can reproduce. Also, I see this behavior in various projects I work with so it's not isolated to one case. This has also been reported to me by other colleagues at JKI so at least I haven't been smoking http://www.marijuana.com/homemade-paraphernalia/76706-making-vaporizer-out-lava-lamp.html' rel='nofollow' target="_blank">LAVA weed or anything. I have, however come across something else that might help. This behavior seems to only happen with the project environment. I tried opening the VI hierarchy alone without the associated project and the "save all" works as expected.
  6. In a typical software application, when you perform a "Save All" action you would expect it to save all of your open documents or working files, right? Not so in LabVIEW. Apparently LabVIEW is not a typical application. Even though I ask LabVIEW to please save all my VI's. It doesn't. I can see that it doesn't because when if I open up a VI that is on the diagram of another visible VI, I see an asterisk in the titlebar indicating that the VI has unsaved changes. In LabVIEW 8.5.1 there are two "save all" menu items, one called "save all" and another called "save all (this project)". I've tried both and neither produces the expected results. It's possible that the behavior of the "save all" has changed over the last four or five LabVIEW versions. In the past, the "save all" menu function would save ALL vi's in memory. Regardless if the front panel is visible or not. I'm thinking that this is not the case anymore and now LabVIEW only saves VI's with their front panel visible. An exception to this rule is that LabVIEW somehow remembers if you've opened a VI with unsaved changes and then closed it (without saving changes) thus actually saving it when you later perform a "save all". Is all of this true? If so, then is there any way to perform the old-style "save all"?
  7. QUOTE (Antoine @ Jul 7 2008, 06:33 AM) Great job Tomi! Welcome to the world of video. I'm not alone.
  8. QUOTE (Aristos Queue @ Jul 3 2008, 10:51 AM) Maybe tools should be designed as users expect them to work. :-)
  9. I've created a new category in the Gallery called LabVIEW User Interfaces. Please create your albums and post images there of your LabVIEW masterpieces. I've also created a sub-category of bad and ugly LabVIEW UI's as an example of what NOT to do. I've moved two existing User albums into this new category as a starter. I hope to see more UI's here in the future. Have Fun! PS: Should we create a category for really huge or messy LabVIEW diagrams?
  10. Nice quote: "He's moving, he is ok."
  11. Actually, the benefit of an icon is that you don't need the text anymore. This allows for more "buttons" to fit on the bar. To remove the text just right-click on the icon and select "properties", then delete the text for the Name field (it can be blank). Also, you guys DO know that you can create folders in that bar too right?
  12. Has anyone been through one of these yet? Passengers virtually stripped naked by 3-D airport scanner Didn't they have one of these in Total Recall? This is similar: SafeView
  13. Just added an NIWeek 2008 Forum for ALL NIWeek 2008 discussions. I also created a dedicated NIWeek 2008 RSS feed for those that care to monitor it separately, however it's already included in the ALL of LAVA feed. There won't be an NIWeek Blog this year. Any videos I take at NIWeek will be found on my VI Shots blog here. My blog RSS is here. Have Fun! Edit: This forum is open to all. Also, if you are giving a presentation at NIWeek or want to make ANY NIWeek related announcements, please make them in this new forum. Note: LAVA is a high traffic site. If you have an event that needs to be noticed, a posting on LAVA is essential.
  14. Dr T. already bought his, how about you?
  15. Animax did an animated video of Bob & Doug McKenzie. See it here (fast forward to 10:40). Now Global TV will run a 15 episode run this year. Looks like FOX is interested in this cartoon now too. This is awesome. Can't wait to see it. Read news here.
  16. They're sold out, but they are still offering a good deal at $1098
  17. Dude, you can't be serious. There must be like a billion PHPNUKE forums and support sites out there.
  18. QUOTE (crelf @ Jun 13 2008, 07:46 PM) He made this video: Oops! Did I just end the thread?
  19. Awesome work on the T-shirt everyone. Thanks to Chris Relf and Justin Goeres. It's nice when the community steps forth and helps out like this. As far as selling at NIWeek, this is tough. I tried this one year and it didn't work out too well. You need to invest money in buying shirts in the hope that they will sell (I still have many of them left in my closet). You need someone to hang around a box of shirts. You also need to have a place like a booth (which LAVA doesn't have). Also, people don't want to buy shirts at a show where NI is giving shirts away for free. One person even got mad when I asked for money. So, this way you may or may not buy one. No sweat off any of our backs and no hard feelings. You'll just be the only one walking around with an NI (the dark side) t-shirt instead of a cool LAVA one, and don't even think of showing your face at the LAVA\OpenG BBQ without one. Regardless, I would think that all the people who's avatars are featured on the shirt will buy one... right?
