Kurt Friday Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Check out the dust storms in Sydney Cough Cough. I woke up this morning, looked out the window and it was all red. I live in the Blue Mountains west of the city surrounded by bush so I thought it must be bush fires, thankfully its just dust. I can taste it in my mouth as I breathe, yurk Quote
MikaelH Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 I took this picture on the way to work in Sydney. I had to cover my nose and mouth with a cloth to cycle to work. //Mikael Quote

crelf Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 The dust came from out west - chech this video out taken in Broken Hill, NSW: http://www.abc.net.au/local/videos/2009/09/22/2693489.htm?site=brokenhill I remember the occasional dust storm as a kid (I grew up here) - one of the major issues was that all the top soil would get picked up so there was nothing for the farmers to plant their crops in Quote
Yair Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 You've reminded me of these pictures of a sand storm in Israel. According to the text, the height of that front is about 4000 ft. Quote

PaulG. Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 That is amazing. I drove through something like that once in Colorado, but it wasn't nearly as dark or well defined. And it was scary. Quote
