Dan Bookwalter N8DCJ
I may be in need of a dedicated serial adapter , the NI ones are super expensive , but , if it was up to me thats what I would buy... So , does anyone have any recommendations .... you can find them anywhere from $20 to $600 obviously it needs to interface with NI-MAX , although I am sure they all would.. Dan Quote Link to comment
crossrulz
I am personally a fan of StarTech. I have not used their PCIe adapters, but their USB-RS232 adapters are really good. https://www.startech.com/en-us/cards-adapters/serial-cards-adapters?filter_bustype=pci%20express As far as working with MAX, they just need to be normal COM serial ports and VISA will do the rest. Gribo
Is PCIe a requirement? FTDI (assuming you get them from reliable sources) produce very reliable USB to RS232 cables. They also have TTL and LVTTL versions. Quote Link to comment
Niatross
As another alternative, I am always a fan of Brainboxes ethernet to serial adapters. Can be installed as a COM port on Windows machines or can act as a TCP gateway to avoid having to deal with COM ports at all. Quote Link to comment
