QUOTE(christinabest @ Jan 12 2008, 04:33 PM) QUOTE(Justin Goeres @ Jan 5 2008, 10:16 AM) Once you've made some progress, come back and post again if you still have questions. What he said. We're not here to do your homework for you - make an effort yourself, and then we'll try to help.

QUOTE(i2dx @ Jan 11 2008, 05:17 AM) Nope - just got a lot of prototype stuff that we don't use, and I'd prefer others to use them rather than them sitting idle (the hardware, not the people ). We're going to use whatever funds we raise toward buying some other lab equipment so our engineers can do testing work much more efficiently. SuperPrivateScriptingFeatureVisible for LV 8.2
crelf replied to LAVA 1.0 Content's topic in VI Scripting
QUOTE(guruthilak@yahoo.com @ Jan 8 2008, 02:16 PM) That doesn't surprise me at all - it's a feature that's closely gaurded by NI, and not something that's in the catalog (which is often the only products that your local office will know about). You need to have a very strong business case, and an even stronger relationship with NI to get access. That said, the method of writing in 7.x and opening in 8.x works perfectly, so not having native access to it in 8.x is more of an inconvienience rather than a show-stopper. QUOTE(guruthilak@yahoo.com @ Jan 8 2008, 02:16 PM) By the way Chris, do u remember me ? I sure do! Do you remember me? -
Why aren't you using the VIE LabVIEW HTML Help Generator?
crelf replied to crelf's topic in Announcements
QUOTE(psi @ Jan 8 2008, 03:26 AM) I'm not aware of a way to do that - the "c" in "chtm" is "compiled", so the VISTA LabVIEW HTML Help Generator creates the html files first and then compiles them into the chm file. Updating the chm file means rebuilding it completely. You could write code to rebuild it yourself, but it's http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/reverse_engineering/reverse_engineering.htm' target="_blank">not going to be straightforward. -
SuperPrivateScriptingFeatureVisible for LV 8.2
crelf replied to LAVA 1.0 Content's topic in VI Scripting
QUOTE(guruthilak@yahoo.com @ Jan 7 2008, 10:30 PM) You're right - it doesn't work with LabVIEW 8.x. If you want to do scripting, you need to contact NI to get a license for it. That said, you can still use the key in LabVIEW 7.x, then open the code in 8.x and it'll still be there. -
I'm assuming from the verbiage that this is a school/college/uni project that you want help with? If so, you should label it as such. Also, you'll find that you'll get a much better response if you show us what you've already tried so we can make comments on how to do it better or where you might be stuck. Otherwise, we might ge the idea that you haven't even tried and are just attempting to get someone to do your homework for you.

QUOTE(Jim Kring @ Jan 6 2008, 09:43 AM) Oh dear - that's not good, not good at all. We just about to (and I mean this week) roll-out an internal reuse system that relies heavily on that connection - staff can search through them to determine what components to install off our local network.

QUOTE(jillaye @ Jan 5 2008, 07:52 AM) Sorry it's taken me a while to answer. First issue is that you're continuously adding to the string in the shift register - that keeps getting bigger and bigger, and all you're doing is looking at the first message in it, which will always be the same one: the first one. Also, you need to initialise the shift register - you're not gaurenteed what data is in there when you run it unless you explicitly tell it what to be in there: wire an empty string (it's a constant on the string palette that looks like "" in a box) to the left side of the shift register (outside the loop). As for formatting the read string to get the messages out, here's an example. It's not going to fit exactly into your code, but hopefully it will give you enough info to code something similar. Give it a go, but if you're still stuck, post again and I'll have another look for you.

Craaaazy New Year Stocktake Sale! Hi All, As promised, here's a list of NI hardware that I'd like to get rid of. It's been sitting around here with no one using it, so I figure it's better to go to someone who will actually get a benefit from it rather than continue to be idle. It's a mixed bag - there's PXI, PCI, SCXI, Cables, Connectors, etc, so if you're looking to setup an inexpensive prototype system, or need some spares for an existing one, then you just might find it here. I am eventually going to get it all up on to eBay, but I thought I'd give all my forum friends here first dibs Don't be frightened by the prices - they're NI's original US$ list prices when the items were purchased (I think they're accurate), but I'm certainly not asking for full price. All you need to do is PM me with an offer and we'll go from there (I'm willing to ship just about anywhere) Trust me: I'll very open to negotiate prices - I'm not trying to get rich here (I'll update this list as items are sold) Note: Some of it's brand-spanking-new-still-in-the-box-with-the-stickers-on-it, some of it's been-around-the-block-at-least-once, but either way it's guaranteed to work (if not, return it to me for a full refund including postage both ways). note: cross-posted to NI DevZone Forums.
