  1. QUOTE(Michael_Aivaliotis @ Nov 9 2007, 05:07 PM) That's a great idea!
  2. I just got emailed a topic notification for the Premium Member's forum (there's no RSS as the post says) and it arrived in my inbox in German QUOTE
  3. QUOTE(JDave @ Nov 9 2007, 08:59 AM) IthinkImgoingtothrowup...
  4. QUOTE(shoneill @ Nov 9 2007, 07:04 AM) Same thing. QUOTE(Jim Kring @ Nov 9 2007, 04:45 AM) What you're talking about is akin to dynamic type propagation... It is in the sense of the propagation, but not the typelessness (is that a word?) What I'm interested in hearing is input on an even-more strictly typed type.
  5. QUOTE(Yen @ Nov 9 2007, 05:20 AM) Me too!
  6. QUOTE(neB @ Nov 9 2007, 03:41 AM) Oooooooooo - I wanted a philisophical discussion, but didn't quite expect this! Maybe we should move that one to the lounge in its own thread?
  7. QUOTE(Norm Kirchner @ Nov 8 2007, 02:46 PM) You're soooooo needy.
  8. QUOTE(Norm Kirchner @ Nov 9 2007, 03:05 AM) Bite me.
  9. QUOTE(Norm Kirchner @ Nov 7 2007, 08:58 AM) I think I'm thinking what you're thinking Brain, but where are we going to find hot pants in our size? QUOTE(Norm Kirchner @ Nov 7 2007, 09:20 AM) I set it up and you stole the punchline. QUOTE(Yen @ Nov 9 2007, 02:07 AM) For what it's worth, it was my punchline first, so I can complain more. OK you big shelias, I've updated the original post, so it's over to you...
  10. QUOTE(Justin Goeres @ Nov 9 2007, 12:13 AM) OK - this probably isn't going to win me many friends, but the alchohol content of that particular "beer" is irrelevant - did you notice the quotes there? IMO, it's not real beer anyway. It's swill whose main purpose is to stop Australians living in the south from rising up out of their trailer parks and making the rest of Australia look icky. I have it on very good authority that VB is, what we call in Australia, "recycled" beer - start with a vat of good beer (Tooheys Old is an excellent place to start), feed it to a horse or similar animal, and place a bucket under them while they're drinking - that's how VB is produced. Get the picture? PS: You think I'm cantankerous?!? I disagee!
  11. QUOTE(Norm Kirchner @ Nov 8 2007, 02:28 PM) It looks like it's about a 2.39:1 - it's a common movie http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspect_ratio_%28image%29' target="_blank">aspect ratio. Also, the ad was for Australian customers, so the original width would have been PAL (720 x 576), not NTSC (720 x 480).
  12. QUOTE(Aristos Queue @ Nov 8 2007, 02:00 PM) Right - that's exactly what I was looking for - thanks.
  13. Victoria Bitter (VB) is an Aussie beer brand that's been putting out great TV adds for years (just do a youTube search on "VB"). Here's one of the originals - take note of the music: Now here's their latest offering:
  14. QUOTE(Vidula S @ Nov 8 2007, 08:49 AM) You need to post your code so we can have an idea of where the issue is. Recursive programming can be a little daunting at first, but once you konw a few simple rules then it becomes pretty clear.
  15. QUOTE(Götz Becker @ Nov 8 2007, 09:08 AM) Exactly! If we followed this rule, then all branches back through the dataflow would need to conform to the 'requiredness' of the child! (I said it was a philisophical question so I'm not interested in the paltry issues of implementation at this stage ) QUOTE(Götz Becker @ Nov 8 2007, 09:08 AM) I hope this sentence makes any sense!?! This is the first time I try to philosophize in english You did great
  16. QUOTE(Justin Goeres @ Nov 8 2007, 05:32 AM) In the words of all 2 years old: "But whhhyyyyy?" As I said, it's philopsphical: what use cases exist when you don't want a subVI's requiredness to propagate to a calling VI's requiredness? What I'm talking about is a subVI that's in a VI that will ultimately be used as a subVI.
  17. QUOTE(neB @ Nov 8 2007, 05:54 AM) Got a quick example with benchmark data?
  18. Now that I've got your attention: no, this isn't an OO question. Consider a VI that has a required input. If I then drop that VI (child) into another VI (parent), create a control that wires into the required input of the subVI and then put that control on the parent's connector pane, should the parent's connector pane node become required? A is required, should B be automatically required too?
  19. They're tokens that you need to add to the exe's ini file - see here for token formats.
  20. QUOTE(tcplomp @ Nov 7 2007, 05:04 PM) Well put!
  21. QUOTE(MikaelH @ Oct 16 2007, 08:03 AM) Brilliant! I wonder what the Japanese characters are that cover up the naughty bits? Here's another Japanese show that I loved growing up - it's called "endurance": Endurance: Check it out at the 5 minute mark
  22. QUOTE(JDave @ Nov 7 2007, 10:59 AM) Well, you don't need to *run* the plug-in when you're checking its connector pane - you just need to open it. QUOTE(JDave @ Nov 7 2007, 10:59 AM) I had considered checking the VI for controls with certain names instead of a certain connector pane. While absolutely a valid method (as long as all your developers stick to it ) you might as well just use the VI name. QUOTE(JDave @ Nov 7 2007, 10:59 AM) (llbs): Does NI plan on using them long term? I *think* I remember hearing rumbles that they aren't looking at supporting them long-term, but you'd have to ask NI that
  23. So when are you sbumitting this to the LAVAcr?
  24. QUOTE(Norm Kirchner @ Nov 7 2007, 09:20 AM) http://lavag.org/old_files/monthly_11_2007/post-181-1194392639.jpg' target="_blank">
  25. QUOTE(Norm Kirchner @ Nov 7 2007, 08:58 AM) Take over the world!
