Phillip Brooks
I see that there has been a ?!@*-ton of spam on the OpenG General Discussion forum this weekend. Just a thought; maybe the discussion forums could be moved to LAVA? It might provoke a bit more involvement in OpenG in general and the more robust forum software would stop the spammage (is spammage a word?) 2 Quote Link to comment

I would second that idea very much, the life seems to have fallen out of the OpenG forum's over the last year or so which seem doubly strange now that the OpenG Libraries have been recognised by NI. Wouter
I think that is a great idea, hopefully it will get more active then, I have a bunch of VI's which I think are handy and would like to share with everyone threw OpenG. I think the project must come from it's feet again... but there seems no one to really pick it up. Quote Link to comment
dannyt
Hi All This post should really go on the OpenG forums themselves, but I feel a little worried about posting up anything on there these days or even signing in for that matter, so I could not think where else to put this post as I am sure the OpenG people read LAVA (well who does'nt) I am not really sure who is responsible for the OpenG forums, but the spam situation is really getting bad on there now, I cannot see it doing anything but harm to the reputation of the OpenG tool set which is now recognised as part of the NI tool network. I really think it would be a good idea to close down the forum for now until the situation can be got under control again both the the reputation of the OpenG community and for the security of the members of that forum. Popular Post jgcode
Ok, I cleaned up the spam (should I call it spam? ...some content was very interesting... ) Anyways, I formally vote for OpenG as a sub-forum of LAVA. Respectfully, -JG 3 Quote Link to comment

Just a quick insider's message: yes, the wind had gone out of the OpenG sails for a little while, but we're reorganizing to ramp it up again. Just sayin'. Quote Link to comment

jgcode
Thanks for the update that is good to hear :-) Just a quick one, I contacted Jim who has put in a challenge question for member registration. Hopefully, that will calm things down with the spambots. Cheers -JG Quote Link to comment

I think I reported some of them already last year. Hi Rolf My post was in response Antoine's post dated 04-Mar-11 - I have not back tracked through the forums. However, I just did a quick look and could not find any spam from Feb 2010 onwards as you mentioned above. Also, I am just guessing that any reports would go to Jim? Cheers -JG Quote Link to comment

Usually a single post user account with useless message also looks to me like spam. A few of these could be maybe left, although I'm sure they were just test messages by the bot creator to see if it works. "Hello dude, this is great info" with only this single post for that account is simply useless. For obvious cases it would be good to disable the account too. A fairly good indication for these posts is also that it is usually a name with a 2 digit number appended. Quote Link to comment
