  1. The irony. You went off topic first. I was responding to you accusing me of being another Alfa. Did I miss something? I could have taken that personally, I guess. Now I'm going to report you to the moderator. So there. (Just kidding) How should I have responded? "Yea, yuck yuck you can call me Gamma! Duh!" As far as you not liking to argue and being "offended": If you might not like the response, don't take the shot. I was as gentle as I could be. Never know just how sssensitive someone can be around here.
  2. No. But our federal government, in it's current condition will most certainly make things worse. As much as I believe in states rights I don't even think the states can reform much of anything anymore. The federal government simply has way too much authority and control over too many areas of our lives.
  3. Alfa (not "Alpha") has posted quite a few times since 2.0. As far as calling me "Paul Gamma" you can call me anything you want. But here my name is PaulG. And what do you mean by "double post"? If you mean posting more than once before someone responds I apologize. I didn't think of it as being "rude". I see it as a continuation of what I had posted previously. "Expounding" if you will. A small minority have complained that I have not provided enough information to make my case. I am simply providing further information as I find it. Besides, you know as well as I do that I'm not forcing anyone here to read anything I post. I'm not an Alfa nor am I stupid. If I post here another 2, 3 or 10 times and nobody responds I'll get the message that this thread is dead and move on. I won't whine for cry about it. I have already done more for what I was wanting to accomplish (just bringing folks up to speed on the Scam that is Global Warming/"Climate Change") than I could have imagined. (Thanks, LAVA's ) I haven't done the math, but I think I've gotten more up-clicks on this post than I have on all my other previous posts combined. Someone(s) here likes what I'm saying and what we are talking about. This is the lounge. "Anything goes". If you want me to stop posting on this thread you can always take it up with the moderator. It wouldn't be the first time Micheal A. has brought to my attention something I posted on this thread because someone got their feelings hurt. ( ) As long as global warming, I mean "climate change" is a topic of discussion in the real world I will probably feel the need to post something here from time to time. GW/"CC" is too important of an issue for scientists in general and programmers specifically. As an aside, I spend a lot of time on other blogs/forums that have nothing to do with science but are more political in nature. For the most part my concerns about GW/"CC" are preaching to the choir. Here I get feedback from a lot of very intelligent folks all across the political and international spectrum. I find it rewarding and gratifying, whether someone agrees with me or not. And Hooovahh, (just some personal advice) the next time you and some co-workers reach some conclusions and/or concerns about me and what I am saying here, I suggest you let the person with more seniority make the case here. In this case I am certain that person is not you. We know what I am talking about. I have enjoyed your posts here and want to keep bantering here with you. I would not want this (or any) response to possibly hurt your feelings, either and possibly get me into trouble (again) with the moderator. Fair enough? I rest my case.
  4. Be thankful. Real reform stands a much better chance of happening when the feds keep their evil little paws off of something.
  5. Any time a cabal of scientists (using dubious science at best) can manipulate public opinion and political decisions that affect billions of people that cost trillions of dollars it does indeed damage science and technology and the health and welfare of mankind. Regarding the environment: have you ever seen a wind farm? Would you want to see wind farms in Rocky Mountain National Park? Would you want one in your back yard? Do you know how costly they are? Do you drive a "green" car? Do you know how much more pollution is generated in manufacturing the batteries alone for a "green" car? What about bio-diesel. Last I heard it costs more energy to manufacture bio fuels than we get. How can that be good for the environment? Nobody in Washington is talking about nuclear energy. France gets better than 90% of their energy from nuclear. Modern nuclear plants are the most environmentally friendly (and certainly the most efficient) power facilities in world. But no. Current administrations here and abroad are going to force us into a new Stone Age. We'll be "green" all right. (scoff)
  6. A petition signed by over 30,000 American scientists.
  7. Sarah Palin's take on Copenhagen.
  8. Copenhagen climate summit: global warming 'caused by sun's radiation'. The SUN causes global warming, uh, er, I mean "climate change". Climategate: Biggest. Scandal. Ever.
  9. Here it comes ... wait for it ... here ya' go.
  10. "Meat is murder". Or is it "murder is meat"?
  11. You are correct. But I don't think anyone knows for sure if the database was hacked or leaked by a whistlblower. By my understanding the CRU has fought every (European equivalent of the) Freedom of Information Act request for data. It was also revealed last week that CRU deleted much of the old, raw data that was stored on older formats, i.e. paper, etc. All they have of the older data are "value added" data. (Jon Stewart opined: "Value added data? What is that? Numbers fortified with art?" but I digress) Recently NASA was threatened with a FOIA lawsuit for their climate data. I don't know who is funding CRU, but NASA is US taxpayer funded. I think it's part of the scam that you have to file a lawsuit to get climate data from NASA. The American taxpayer owns that data and should have as much access to it as they wish. NASA refusing to disclose climate data is like NASA refusing to post images from the Hubble.
  12. Indeed. "Make love not war, flower power, free love, "free" health care, "green" jobs, "green" cars, "green" energy, no Wal Mart, no guns, tune in, freak out ... and we are going to need your checkbook."
  13. We all have written "unprofessional" code and comments. But I would like to think most of us would take the extra step and bring our professionalism up a notch or two if we were working on a project of such importance. The CRU is either collectively arrogant or extremely naive to think their work would never be scrutinized by the general public.
  14. (slowly shaking my head) Let's not lower this discussion to talking about "standards". This is about ethics. Science is the search for knowledge. Science is not the "truth" corrupt entities with an agenda want us to believe by manipulating data and facts for monetary and political gain.
  15. Interesting article in PC World. And no, I'm not trying to start another argument.
  16. BBC is on board. It reveals the most shocking revelation yet IMO. But why am I not shocked? As programmers we should all start taking this scandal personally.
  17. A plethora of climategate stories. Al Gore taking cover. Why can't we investigate both?
  18. I guess I have been extremely blessed. The only beef I have had with health coverage are the huge deductables. Fortunately my current plan has no deductable so I don't even have that to complain about at the moment. And the few times I've needed care I got it and got it quickly. If we had a strong and healthy economy with less regulation a lot of these issues would resolve themselves through competition between insurance companies. The government absolutely cannot fix these problems by taking control of the health care system.
  19. The reason postage keeps going up is that the PO needs to keep buying more of those little signs that say: "Next Window Please"
  20. Let me Google that for you.
  21. Maybe Canada's system works well for you where you live. Call me skeptical. I've heard numerous stories from people in Canada who have a lot of complaints, mostly due to having to wait for specilized care. Besides, if the Canadian system works that well we should be hearing a lot of folks in Washington talking about modeling it. That's not the case.
